Title: I hate this bike now.
Post by: munners on August 15, 2008, 02:44 PM
I dont know why but i have fallen badly out of love with my black ripper. Ive put gold7x's on it and a nice set of flights but it still dont do it for me. :'(

Has the retro ripper killed the black and gold ripper?

hmm.

needs fettling.

bars in chrome, gold mx 1000 and tech 3, lose that redline chainring, and use gold one with a spider/powerdisc.

voila.

1 pce crank and spider/chainring, gold chain would sort it out no end Nick  ;)  Chrome bars might be good too and maybe get rid of the camo pads, but hey I'd take it as it is for free if you're that out of love with it  :LolLolLolLol:

In fairness the chain looks ok when the backdrop aint the driveway! You sort of lose the chain in the stones. ???

I think it looks crap. All top parts but it is missing something. :tickedoff:

i think you are right munners..................lose the pads, put on brown leather ones, lose the bars ,but on chrome powersings, lose the seat put on a aero, and loose the cranks for a 1pc,that will do it.

Im just too fussy Matt when it comes to overtightening. My bikes are built so lose. The rear wheel must have moved forward a touch as i was bouncing it down my stairs from the loft!

Absolutely not, you cant replace the history in your bike.  As most other people say it just needs fettling.  People would say I was mad when I said that my 1984 master was pants...a small amount of work later and I was a very happy bunny once again...so just do it, you wont be sorry  :daumenhoch:

On a side note I have to say that sadly I do like the 2008 Retro ripper...it might be a pretender, but lets face it, what's not to like, that black and gold is absolutely killer...

...and here's my pretend ripper  :smitten:

I have never like PK's so my opinion is of no use.

But I know what you are thinking Munners, now that the retro is available it does seem to lose its exclusivity a bit.  Still looks nice for a PK though.

Camo pads def gotta go..when were they ever nice? (shut up NS kids...)

And I have 3 pc crank on my ripper, and I'm not sure about it too. The Ripper frame is "chunky" and perhaps a opc would look better on yours..and on mine too, come to think of it...

apart from that, its lovely Nick.

Just my $0.02 worth..

Nick , heres my veiw
and i love a ripper

lose the silver chinring , replace with gold power disk and ring
gold seat clamp
chrome bars
lower the fookin seat ffs

I have to agree though that that colourway looks a bit too obvious ,with the release of the 08 ripperin black and gold

I would also look to replace the off colour decals ( unless its the pic)

I recon the chain ring looks a bit odd as it isn't a shiny as the crank, try polishing it a bit. Or maybee fit a gold chain ring woth a black or chrome spider. To be more period correct chrome bars might look better and what about some golden yellow pads. I had some cal lite pads that were more gold than yellow.
But then what the hell do I know  ;)

wardys is lush...

i would have used a chrome powerdisc on that, but thats just my preference..

gold and black se's need to stick to a certain theme i reckon..

and wardy..get some fooking pads, for fooks sake!

That needs chrome bars and a different colour pad set Nick ... I'd change the tyres for 1.75's too  :daumenhoch:
