:) Do you know of any bike retailers that have used the Olympics to give their BMX sales a boost? From my experience, seems that a lot have missed an opportunity.A non BMX mate rang me up today to tell me that he`d gone to Halfrauds and bought a BMX for his son,as he had seen it on TV today & wanted to give it a go.I enquired about the bike and was told"It has suspension and everything." Turns out he`s been sold a 20" MTB,a fact that the sales guy neglected to mention...

My shop has been selling all bikes at 15% off during the olympics.
We've sold quite a few bmx's today off the back of the bmx racing. :daumenhoch:

:) Zippy-I`d expect that from you`re `cos your a "proper" BMXer ! What I meant was I haven`t seen any general cycle shops or the few specialist BMX shops doing more to use BMX/Olympics as a selling point.I do think/hope that BMX sales will be mega big this Christmas. As for Halfrauds, they may sell more bikes overall than anyone else, but they are still clueless.

Cyclesport said today that calls about race bikes were through the roof :daumenhoch:

If only there were school summer holiday camps set up at some point to teach the basics .

I actually like Halfrauds because they make my life a lot easier. People will always be suckered into thinking they're getting a bike at 50% off, they're not, but the people always return to a proper bike shop when they're Apollo's inevitably go wrong and break because they weren't built properly. We've then got a customer for life because we offer a personal and professional service and we know what were talking about when it comes to bikes and what's best for each individual customer. ;)

Thanks to a long term knee injury :'( i was unable to race at the brits for the first time is 18 years . But managed to get a bit of bike time in after a long term lay off at coppull and preston there was quite a few people at both tracks that seemed keen to get their kids involved since they had watched the olympics. Now is the time for for all goods bike shops to take their opportinity and help bring new blood in to the sport. Iam sure they will by supporting local clubs at grass roots and give the sport the boost it needs :)
We need these people

I know the Hawks have been running these for the last few weeks - the last ones are this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (I think 3-6pm) at their track in Hayes.
