Well Done to all the 40+ riders at the brits this weekend especially Mike Wong and Billy Feidhouse who have both considerably up there game. Also congratulations to the new champ but I am unsure of his name right now.36 RIDERS!!!!Fantastic weekend, quarter finals aswell!!!!
-
It was Gary Morgan Steve and there were 34 of us which was an
awesome turnout which gave us quarters, considering there was
only 15 riders in the 16s and they didnt even have semis, also
12 of us from the mighty South alone turned up the motos were
like the regionals, lastly well done Mooro you nearly had him.
-
There were actually 14 from the South not 12.

Cheers Steve. It was a really good class to race in yesterday and everyone in it raced well and put on a good show.
I think about half a dozen 30-39 riders are moving up next year, plus there's bound to be a few more old/schoolers BMX dads who decide to give it a try, so we could quite possibly have 1/8ths at next years Brits.
The traditional "dad's class" has come a long way!
-
40+ winner Gary Morgan was well known BITD because he raced a grifter frame and still won nationals on it!!!
-
I thought I remembered that name. I remember the ABMX piece on him and his bike.
Maybe there should be a Grifter class at Hersden? ::)
-
You'll want a Boxer and Strika class next. :LolLolLolLol:
-
Yes I'd be up for that :D

so how was euro disney then zippy
-
Looks like it's the 2nd year in a row that the 40+ has had a winner who has no qualified through the regions!
The winner came over from Australia for this race.
Yeh - he was FAST! But should he have been allowed to race?
Think we should remove him from the list, and make John Moore the "official" brits champ for 2008
It was the hardest day's racing I have ever had! Just doing the 40+ would have been hard enough, but adding the old school too was a killer!

I'll let you know in December when I go. :LolLolLolLol:
If it is anything like last year though it'll be a fantastic family break. ;)
I've been waiting to find out how you got on Phil but there's no news anywhere?
Come on peeps where's the results.
-
Can see where your coming from Rooonga but prob not a good idea as i'm certain you wont see any complaints anywhere from Jon Moore, he'll just get on with riding fast & wont want to be made to take sides.
Its history, will be spoken about years from now like the old days are now, but best to let it lie. :daumenhoch:

Bit late for that Keith i have opened up a can of
worms over on talk.

We all had a great weekend and showed what a good competitive class we can be. Sounds like this guy paid his dues in the 80s, so fair play to him for making the effort to travel half way around the world and show everyone in the UK that he still has what it takes to kick some butt on the track.
I can see the principle that people are trying to protect that it's not fair if there's one rule for some and another rule for others, but I think there should always be some flexibility to rules.
If Andy Ruffell contacted the South Region and asked for dispensation to the Brits we'd love it, so no different to the North Region letting Gaz Morgan race really.

Bernie Schaale, Neil Hopes, Mark Leach, Roy Binks, Jai Kemp, Mark Wallace all move up to 40+ next season. Throw in Ratty and some of the other old schoolers who have now got cruisers and as Kev says, 1/8ths are a strong possibility next year.
I really need to find my bottle/learn to jump next year otherwise I'll get moto'd at Brits 09 :-[
