Post by: brass monkey! on August 25, 2008, 09:20 PM

I'm selling an Izumi Chain, size: Size is: 1/2" x 3/32"

I know that standard size is: 1/2" x 1/8" - however I have fitted similar ones of this size before, a while back  ::) .....but can anyone tell me what chainring/sprockets the 3/32 size defo fits ???

thanks

I have 3/32 chains fitted with Redline bubble script, Sugino and Sr chainrings.
All of these run with Shimano freewheels on my builds, so i can only vouch for these  :daumenhoch:   G.

I fitted a 3/32 chain by mistake with a 44t sugino chainring and it didn't fit properly.

I now remember reading that very early Redline chainrngs couldn't accept 3/32 chains. This was on the 1st Carrera's. But was soon sorted.
With the Suntour chainrings... I'm running 2 x 44t Sugino rings on my 2 Leary Turbo's.
One with a D.i.d 3/32 and one with an Izumi 3/32 and both fit fine with no issues. These are one of the Sugino chainring types tho... :-X
I think with anything there'll always be discrepencies.    :daumenhoch:   G.

it should fit most old school rings, i had one on my pro-neck chain ring, but it wont fit the wider newschool freewheels only the thinner toothed suntour etc

I had a problem with a Sugino ring not fitting, might be OK with the machined teeth version?

It's easy to spot an early Redline wheel, the teeth start from the back of the chain wheel, and are machined from the front only. The later type are machined on both sides of the teeth.
