Since Maurice Meyer posted up that new pic of Mike D doing another fooking mahoooooosive fakie it got me comparing it with the one that most of us have already seen......very sad I know but hey!
So here's the two pics below.....which is the best? Has anyone done them higher? (if so, pics please) What was your highest fakie? etc. etc.
A proper fakie wasn't an easy trick to land and ride out of, anything beyond half a frame out and I was on my arse. I look at these pics of Dominguez and I just think WTF! How?

 fkme that is high!
that's a bit fast to be coming in backwards.... but being MikeD, I bet it was perfect.
I prefer the first pic. Think it's only cos it was outside tho...
(I got the front wheel out the top a wee bit a week or two ago, and that was hairy enough!)

Both are great. Intersting to see two very different styles. One crunched up and one arms out stretched.
I go for picture one as it looks great but both are amazing.

I can remember Him blasting a few big fakies at the Alfreton comps, along with someone on a streetbeat wrecking on a huge nothing fakie in practice, gnarly!

Daz.
I must admit i've never even considered roll backs standing up. They look really ugly and cack-handed to me! But then again, i've always riden with my seat at a decent height, so im able to sit down ok and do them.
Totally different debate, but i've never understood the newer 'style' of having zero seatpost either...looks really gaelic to me. And footjam nosepicks...ugly as sin to look at.....just get a front brake and make nosepicks look less cumbersome!!!!
Oh...rad pics of fakies by the way! The top one out of the 2 pics on the original post is my fave :)

No, I knew Brian bitd, I can't remember who it was, and I think the streatbeat was just white, but I seem to remember they didn't ride comps that often?
Speaking of Brian and nothings I remember him pulling his first nothing air at the worlds in Paris 88?
-
terry jenkins was a master at fakies real early on, goofy one footed tables spring top mind
then there was the lad from Cov / Nuneaton way that regularly blasted mahoooosive fakies to death at most BFA comps - forget his name which is bad as rode with him for a year or so
-
Is there a new fangled freewheel that let you go backward without the pedals moving....?
Like a coaster without the brake

Well, it's not new, I had one in the mid 80's , they're called freecoasters
-

Yeah it's a free coaster... but they're not that new really, but they've become popular recently. I think Bill Stupps runs one...I could be wrong though. :-\
Daz. :daumenhoch:

No its not a freecoaster,I had one of those back in the 80's. they were a freewheeland a coaster brake. the new ones are just freewheel.... I think
-
* Freecoasters
Freecoasters allow rolling backwards without pedaling backwards as one would need to do with a cassette or freewheel hub. The design of the freecoaster is based on coaster brake hubs with the brake pads removed allowing for backpedaling. Some companies also manufacture specific freecoaster hubs. Such hubs are very popular with street riders.

I have got a freecoaster, and yes they are like a coaster without the brake.
Are you thinking of the ACS freecoaster Sean, they were a freewheel that fitted on to a coaster brake and could be switched on and off by the flick of a lever on the freewheel ?
-
Yes billy, I had an ACS freecoaster, you had to undo two screws to disengage the freewheel. I take it this odysey jobie does a similar thing.
just clicked thelink..... £139........ fook me. :-X
I remember when odysey first started, their gear was as cheap as chips and a Haro bike would set you back some serious $$$
Now you can buy a haro bike for the same amount as an odysey hub....
fooked up world :wtf:

They're called freecoasters still, but I agree, they don't do quite what they once did

Fakie , Fazak in 89 , use to have them about a foot or two higher , not so high these days tho , don't practice them that much any more , the skate parks get crowded and you end up crashing into someone or anyother ramp when rolling back lol /....
