I thought about getting a new school ride for daily use. Thing is i allready got a what i feel is new school to me a webco from '92 with gt profile 3 piece crank, profile chainwheel, sunn rims with revcore sealed hubs, dk inverted stem, old school redline forks, shimano xt v-brake with an mx88 lever, odi roughneck grips, primo bar ends, old school gt pro bars, gt clamp, gt lean back post and a blue kashimax aero. If I am honest, this webco is so much more rideable than old school it's not funny and that xt stops when you want to, not like the usual book an appointment to stop in the near future u get with mx 1000's and it's as long as fook. Am I the only person with a mid school rider?? When i look at the newer school rides, there is nothing i can see to improve on I think??. I got out of bmx around 87-88 so i have little or no knowlage of mid school/new school. Any body got mid school???? what's hot and wat's not??

that's a dutch ad, nico does bought the webco name after they went bust and started making them in '91. It was the western european bicycle company. his dad gerrit does is the guy who brought bmx to holland.
http://www.webco-bicycles.com/ I don't know if they are trading now because the guy who owns it now albert knill is no longer with us.

I've got what many might call new school but to me I class it as mid school...... A 1997 Mongoose Solution Pro. It has Answer Proforx (I did a 1-1/8 steerer conversion), Profile XXL polished stem, S&M Slambars, Sealed 180mm Mongoose 3 piece cranks (The ones with the weird bend in them), GT platform pedals with replacable pins, 45 tooth TNT Retroblade chainwheel, Black Araya rims with sealed DK hubs, Shimano 16 tooth cromo freewheel, GT Megabyte tyres, XT V brakes with AVID lever, Early 90's GT padded seat and the original Mongoose seatpost.
-
not sure about the phrase "mid school"
but in that category i have:
96 redline RL240
96 Mission Pulse
96 KHE Catweasel
all nice sized bikes to ride. 36" wheelbase. which back then was normal, but now is classed as short. these bikes were made for freestyle though, not just jumping.
The redline has the nicest geometry of any bmx i have ridden. it's weighty though - not chromo.
going a bit newer, i have a 2000 DNA Linkon (hopper 2). 33" wheelbase. now that is short.
-
I'm using this RL440 until I find a better frame to build up. Chrome and black everything.

nice. good solid redline frame!
-

97 performer/vertigo, they were the same frame but were sold with different wheels, seeing as i only got the frame i'll never know what it was.
-
rad people have some nice bikes. mid school almost need it's own category.
-
the 90's was a great era for bikes
-
My Condor, has 2.0 True tyres on now...
Need a set of GT profiles and Hoffman bars to finish it off...
-
There's loads of GT profiles in the states at the mo.

it was delivered to work & one of the aprremtices fell in love with it, he just kept gazing at it & stroking it :smitten:
i had to sell it to him really as it woulda broke his little heart if i took it away!
it looks awesome now as i sold him a pair of Carbon Spins for it last week :coolsmiley:
it was nice with Tuffs & looks ok with black 36's but its gorgeous with the Spins 8)

My '96 Supercross 125 Pro. It's probably more 'New School' Than 'Mid School' as it has both V-brake mounts and a 1 1/8 threadless steerer, but any oppourtinity to post a picture ;)
By the way Bren, I think I have a set of NOS GT Profiles if your interested?
