Currently I ride to work three days a week (8 miles each way) on mtb. Since the weather is going to get even worse and dark early I was thinking of driving part way and using the 20" (or using it as an excuse to finally get a cruiser) for the last three miles.
So, I was wondering if anyone else rides to work on bmx or cruiser and how they get on with it?

:) Up until I got ill and lost job,I used to ride to/from work everyday, only 2 miles each way but did feel a bit of a knob in a suit/tie on a BMX! Used to have some cool metal ramps in the warehouse that were intended for going between the loading docks/trailers ,but were cool for jumping.I did once get stopped by a lady special constable who threatened to arrest me for having no front brake too......prat!

i ride my cruiser{when i can be ar*ed} just keep the seat high and you'll be ok.

I ride about five miles to work on my cruiser, in about the same time it takes on an mountain bike.
Its not much different, except a bit harder going uphill, builds up the leg muscles.
Just have the seat high enough to sit down and pedal.
Everyone at work looks at it and goes "its only got one brake" "wheres the gears?" etc

is that Zippy's old Floval? s'really nice
I ride to work on a Santa Cruz full susser!! but then i get to play in epping forest on the way into the city so its warranted, during the winter i just stick some slicks on stick to the road. was considering taking my cruiser once its built but not sure if 11 miles will be too much...

whoops typed that then left it without seeing Zippy's response....

I rode to work and back on it every day last week (around 8 miles per day total, mostly hills) to raise money!

I've done my 10 miles each way commute on both my OM flyer and Charge Stove and it doesn't take much longer than on a MTB, but they're both 26"ers. I did contemplate commuting on my 24" when I had one, but I couldn't get on with it.
I prefer to use the OM than the Stove and would rather use them in better weather. If it's raining I now use my road bike, purely because it takes a full 5 minutes less off my journey time
