Hi folks.
My misses works for the NHS and they have a Intranet market place thingy where peeps sell stuff.
Anyway she saw a BMX and e-mailed me the details (I think because it had the word 'Mags'). Had a butchers, I must admit I know nowt about new skool (which might be obvious) and got it for £60. I'll be picking it up next week as it's local and here is a pic of how it was advertised. Apparently it's complete and in good nick, I can see a few things to do, ie move bars, stick some whitewalls on it ::)
So, my question is, is this any good or not? I can always give it to my 9 year old nephew, or my misses can borrow it for summer rides. Be honest folks, don't hold back on your thoughts

you can't argue with that for £ 60 notes , i say :daumenhoch:
-
dont know nothing about new school but for 60 quid id say a bargain :daumenhoch:
-
Are they a generic brand or is it the same Hyper as in decent BMX Hyper? I really don`t want to be rude but it`s more of a beginner bike.I`d say £60 is pushing it,but if it gets ridden and makes you smile, then it`s not bad...
Miserable,stuck up,arrogant...... I`m just like my Dad.
-
"New School" would be a stretch. It looks like its got a 1" shafted stem.
Id say its more of a Toys R us BMX lookalike. Fine for riding round on, just as a bike.
If you are happy with £60 then you cant go wrong :daumenhoch:

That's what I was thinking that made me have a punt.
I may bring it to Creation for a thrash, but I'm sure my nephew wouldn't mind riding it with his Uncle Paul on the paperound ;D
All comments are welcome though dudes, just wasn't quite sure if I'd done the right thing.

Going against the grain I'd say keep your money dude. It's not what I'd call a BMX :daumenhoch:

Same with me, i wouldn't touch it even with Priv's fat wallet!! It's maybe ok for a kid (if you don't really like him) but £60 in my opinion was way too much! (by about £60)
Always ask on Rad first Paul!!!!

Classic :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

I must agree with the big man here.
To be honest Paul I'd want that free. however, if you're nephew rides it and enjoys it then £60 well spent.
and it might be a POS bike but I bet he still ends up a better rider than me.

I do agree if your nephew enjoys it then it's all good!
-
and let's be honest, £60 only just buys a set of batteries for your ghetto blaster Paul. :LolLolLolLol:
-
As i kid, i would have been more than happy if somebody bought me a bmx to doss about on, whatever the brand. :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks for your sound comments fellas, some classics among you lot :LolLolLolLol:.
Looks like my nephew ''will be forced'' to accept it :knuppel2: :LolLolLolLol:
I suppose I can look at it like this, petrol would cost me about £40 to fill my car and then it's gone, and you see nothing for it, so at least there's something visible (am I kiddin myself) and my nephew gets a free bike......(I might nick the mags though!!)
See you at Creation on it......or will I be banned
Paul (I ain't got a fookin clue ;D )
PS: I knocked the seller down from £75...what a bargain!!
-
bad and ugly.
Leave the mags on and give it to your nephew.
Then take a long hot bath to rid yourself of the filth.

The water is a running and the radox is ready

Took it to my nephews yesterday and he loves the bike, his first BMX, although a bad one admittedly after picking it up and seeing it in the flesh, very toys r us (the name Hyper got me thinking it was a proper bike), but he still enjoyed riding it all afternoon (said he'll be at a freestyle park soon!!)
I love this pic, seems a real happy chappy on it

If it makes him smile like that Paul, then it's a brilliant bike!
-
JOB DONE.
Happiness is it's own reward... and he looks pretty happy!
Nice one mate.

I stand corrected :daumenhoch:

No probs dude ;)
Havin seen the parts on the bike, they're not the best to say the least, and when I picked it up I realised what I'd bought....., but it was great to see little Ed having a ball yesterday and trying to his first wheelie :)
Hopefully I'll try and convince him to come along to some Rad meets (rather than him supporing West Bromwich Albion :idiot2: ;D )
-
do you know what, i was going to slaughter that bike but seeing your nephew on it and loving it,
it took me back to my billy and his first bmx, a £60 go easy bmx ;D cheap as chips, crap as you like
but he learnt so much on this bike, :daumenhoch:
-
It's like the Barclaycard ad:
POS BMX £60
Smile on kids face. Priceless.
Definitely not the bargain of the century, but £60 doesn't go far these days anyway. Let the kid have fun, thrash it to bits then move on to something better.
-
LOL, came in here just after you posted originally, Paul, took one look at the bike and thought 'right i'm off'
Those nephew pics bring a whole new dimention to it though mate :D
fantastic!
-
yep agree with all the above,
it is a POS. no question, but that kid loves it, £60 for that smile? cheap I'd say, very cheap.
well done Paul. you rock.
(does everyone know that Paul's (aerostylie) cousin is Blaze Bailey? him of Wolfsbane and then Iron Maiden (while Dickinson was being a dick doing rubbish solo stuff and flying airliners) fame.
-
well he looks as it he loves if the pics are anything to go by ..well in mate ...lets hope he`s always that grateful and easliy pleased ..hell i remember being over the moon with my first ever bmx ...who remembers the yerllow and blue team murrays?
-
one happy chappy :)
-
Cheers all for the cool comments guys, a nice surprise, every cloud so they say :daumenhoch:
Yes totally agree it's not a BMX as we would call it, on the plus side it's all buttoned up with no missin parts so should do him ok for knockin about on (it did say on the frame though not for competitive use, so no X Games for him yet!!)
My nephew (fortunatley) does not know anything about BMXs (some say I don't either ;D) but it's a start and will hopefully encourage him into this great sport/hobby......he said he wants to come to Creation with me (god knows what I can show him though, but the next novice night I'm hopin he'll come along ;).
Cheers dudes
Paul

get him along to novice night, Uncle paul should get him some new tyres first, I use Asda kevlar beaded freestyle tyres, they are in a bell box but they are made by cheng shin i think.
we will at the very least have him rolling in and riding up the jump box. :daumenhoch:
Ollie (lil gashead) was loving it at the last one.
