Title: Pic of my newly acquired TA - before restoration begins
Post by: jimwise68 on January 18, 2006, 08:51 PM
Well this is the baby that I won on ebay. Apologies for the token leather bike stand!!  ;D

It's a 1983 TA, number 0000426. It needs a re-chrome but the parts are all immaculate.

The alloy Tuff 2s have no rim scratches, so they obviously haven't had their rim abused (oooeeerr), and the hubs have not rust at all, they are very shiny. Run as free as a bird!! Look brand new.

The DK stem looks new, as does the MX1000 rear brake, lever and seat clamp. CW bars are in lovely condition, just need a polish.

Just a shame about the flaking on the frame and forks.

Gonna out the NOS red brake for a pair of gold ones. Add a black chainring to the flight crank and gold MX seat clamp.

So if anyone has these bits give me a shout.

The frame will be going in for redressing next month along with the crank arms.

Will post more pix when more room available on site.

Nice, did those pedals come on it, they look like mint DXs?  :D

It is the coventry one.

The DXs are NOS (with box) and are shop new!! Was gonna swap them for red ones but have changed my mind now. Gonna redo the colour scheme around them.

Changed the laid back seat and post for  a Uni Turbo (cos I've always wanted one).

I've cleaned up the wheels and tyres. Wheels look brand new and tires are perished but clean.

I'll post some more pix when I can.

Yeah but if the frame is stronger, the stress has to go somewhere.

So a few broken bones it will be then!!  ;D

At least the PK frame gives out before you do!!

Looks good, I was watching that, was going to bid on it too, but Flaz told me someone else on here was bidding. Thats a lot of bike for what you paid for it, nice one.

It is and I am very happy with it.

I owe Flaz a drink then.

There is a TA frame on Ebay now that has about an hour to go, its only at £122.

Needs some forks though.

There is also an complete frame and fork set that has yet to be welded together on there.

Always had whitewalls BITD.

Personally think they look great with a set of black Tuffs.
