i've put my Tuff neck on the Torker and there is about a 6-7 mil gap between the headset and the bottom of the stem as if the shaft on the stem is too long for the forks. Is there spacers/ washers or something i can use for 1" headsets?
Does anyone know if i use the tange lock might that take up the difference being that much bigger than the basic nut?
Cheers.

you sure the old stem bolt is not stuck in stem ,i had that on a skyway once also have had this on a few forks ie as the stem get lower in shaft the stem stops and does not go down anymore .it`s the forks that have the problem ie shaft gets smaller as the stem goes in normally where they weld the legs on .try this and that will tell you if forks are the problem and not stem.
i can`t see a way of fixing this only cut down the stem shaft so it`s not as long but mmm not a tuf neck .

I have had worse problems with a number os stems of the Pro Neck, Tuff Neck, DK variety in redline frames. They sit about an inch high. As mentioned below, it's the forks that taper inside.

They squeek all the way down anyway
