Its not the same bike i owned as thats in a land fill somewhere :'( but i have finally managed to nail it and make the exact bike i had. Its all made from NOS parts. Every bit of it including the frame and forks. My favorite bike in the World! Hope ya like.

It cost £350 back in 1984!
Just a lucky kid i guess.
-
Very nice Nick - lovely build.
I've still got my GT Performer from BITD (the very one!) and it's a good feeling to have your bike, it choked me up when I first built it - the memories come flooding back.
Do you have any pics of then and now?
-
My mum reckons she has photos but she has just moved and is up in the air.
I have one of me doing an endo at home. I will try and get it up.
It was looking at this picture that i noticed the comp 3 early label tyres. That did my head in!

amazing mate, simply amazing :daumenhoch:

Don';t know much about BITD bikes - what's the silver handle type thing on the top tube? Is it an extendable rack for your shopping or for towing something?
-

-
nice Nick !! 8)
you must have been the spoilt kid in your street..... ;)
-
Thanks so much boys.
When i got it, it had no ez bars or platform. Think i had GT bars or maybe just win bars. If you ask me ,it actually looks 1000% better with no platform and a padset on but thats how i had it so i had to build it like that.
It is a mega 'tarty' bike but it is so crisp and clean. The tuffs set it off and every time i look at her it reminds me of bitd. Like yesterday!!!! :'(
My Dad just bought me the best presents. I wouldnt say i was spoilt but he had a soft spot for giving us nice presents. I was lucky. He had a few quid back then but 2 divorces later and he aint no more! :LolLolLolLol:

When you consider the quality of some BMX bikes today (e.g. Supercross and Redlines around £400-£450), inflation doesn't seem to have affected the BMX market that badly.
I remember my dad buying a Golf GTI in 1988 for £10,600 and they're about £21,000 now!
By the way, really nice build that Munners. Skyway TAs are class.
-
