Title: New Skool Bike- £4-500 quid- what to buy?
Post by: Shings on September 28, 2008, 01:41 AM
Right...

please no whys, I know I have a perfectly good bike but I fancy a newer and better one and the Eastern  is:
A Possibly sold
B if not will be going up for sale...

So...

With my budget (pref £400 tops but can stretch to £500 for somet sexy) what do I buy?

I've looked at the Kink Roc 2009, the Stolen Heater (both about 26 ilbs) looked at the Blank Face too as its got WOMBOLT crank.. but if I am honest I actually know NOTHING about bikes and would rather spend my money wisely....

Over to you guys..... oh yeh... also- I'd like a bargain so somet reduced as its this years model will be fine.

J

:) Eastern are OK,but I`d avoid Stolen & Blank like the plague! Have a look at  WTP,Fit,Subrosa,DK,Premium etc.If you don`t mind last years models, there are some good bargains to be had.Make sure you don`t get one with a frame that`s too small...

Stolen are starting to get a team together but from what I`ve seen and heard,I wouldn`t rate them too highly.Blank are just generic bikes, offering nothing new/special to make them stand out from more established brands offering better products.

Have a look at the WTP range for 09 - fecking awesome for the money and much lighter than Subrosa, etc.

Or speak to Stevie B - as others have said he'll bolt together a top custom bike for that money. You'd be crazy not too.

I've heard really good things about the WTP bikes - they really think about what they are doing and come out with some bikes at a decent price - worth checking out.

You got a shop nearby you can go and browse in and try some out?

Shings get that Colony Sect frame stevieb has for sale and some decent forks then build it.

between trev and stevie b you'll get all the bits at a decent price.

get a cassette rear wheel so you can go small with your cog and get a smaller front sprocket.
