Right I got a pair of MRD forks that the crown bearing once fitted and bolted in 2 frame was proud at back by 3mm. Don't sound a lot but when u turned the bars everything rocked and was loose. ::) So set 2 sorting out , stuck them in the lathe at working on the principle of remachining the crown bearing suface back 2 square. Thats what i thought anyway after running them up and checking with a DTI it appeared they were actually bent :'( So decided 2 add a little heat and bend but it didn't work correctly so abandoned that idea 2 hit and miss. Final solution was 2 put them in the lathe chuck nice and tight. Then with a rubber strip across fork legs with a steel plate on top 2 keep it all square , placed a clamp from the steel to the lathe bed and applied the correct pressure until they were straight 2 eye. Then checked they were running out correctly when spun up on the lathe. Job done refitted and they r spot on ;) On with the rest of the resto. :daumenhoch:
