Really want a daily ride, love oldschool but is it worth wreckin up a new build or should I buy new school. Haro are doing a nice 83 replica..
Was considering building an 84 Torker as available from AlansBMX
Cant work out how to put pic on this page, sorry.. Any how, what do ya reckon guys?
-
I ride an 83 mk1 burner to work n love it! Dont wana wreck it so gettin a bitza made up 1 with 1 or 2 modern parts for ease of use! :)
-
newskool is better if u want it to last
ive rode me ripper a couple of times and the paint is chipped
now so just stripped it to repair the paint
plus i have a newskool too lol
-
i ride this
(http://30cms.co.uk/temp/haha4.JPG)
its a newish school ripper
but i'd ride an old one if i had one
the angles are spot on for me!
so long as it has modern brakes and tyres and handlebars and seat it'll do
-
Nothing wrong with using an old school daily - thats what they were built for - get out there and have some fun ;)
-
I ride both - but agree - new school can take more of bashing
-
get yourself a new school, get one of last years models and you should save pounds. it's probaly cheaper! than an old school. get a copy of Ride magazine and check out the companys ad's for the best offers. stick a few of your selection on here and we'll help you out :daumenhoch:
-
Definately get a new school...keep the old stuff pretty, cause you can't replace 'em.
-
get a TA
strong and light
or a haro sport
see the blyther pipeline pics if you are worried about them breaking
-
silentpartner makes a good point.
I would cry like a little girly if i wrecked my os bikes.
What r u going to do on it? go to work, tracks or ramp work? If your'e just doing bog standard stuff use os.If you are gonna go balls out...get ns ,you can get parts etc.
-
nahhh
a snapped frame is like a trophy
hang it on the wall
-
Here is my daily driver
as strong as an OX, old school, nice angles, light as can be easy to ride, long and the best OS freestyler i have ever had.

I love it, and i know a few of you lot that have had a blast will agree when i say it is the nuts to ride.
oh, and rare too!
-
wicked response, going to do track come summer and want to learn some flat land actually. Got my DB Viper for the track so want one for flat really !! curb endos etc !
I want a useable OS freestyler, not to mint so I can ride it without worry!!! any body got one for sale??
-
orb that bike is nice
all it needs is a few tweeks - ditch the easy rider seatpost and mags and it would be perfect for me
mind you, you are slimmer than me and can ride the placcy wheels ok. you quarter pounder. with cheese.
-
i used to ride my new school federal division most days, but now got an old school wilson cruiser and it is much more fun for riding round on. It has not been restored so dont mind taking it out.
-
only ride oldschool myself, all my bikes get ridden and bashed, in particular my haro sports, good alround bikes.

It wouldn't be hard to throw a motomag goose together with a set of coaster braked tuffs. Thats what I'm building now.
