I came across some more gems in my photo collection.
These are from the KOS at Southsea back in either 86 or 87 (can anyone confirm the exact year ?)
Enjoy.....

The board next to the riders is marked up to 7 feet with a little bit more on top, so you can get a feel for how high they are going !

Wow , absolutely awesome pics, and from the opposite side to most pics from the same comp. (pretty sure 85 year of Nike Kagools)
The NR pic........ i have no words, i would send it to AR to post up on his site with the rest of the photo's of Neil.
Thanks for sharing with others. :4_17_5:
-
Definately 1985. The pic of Neil is awesome! they did air off the vert extension that day but still bl00dy high!! how Bio is Robinson?!?!
-
Great pictures....the one of Neil is just awesome! Great style!!! :4_17_5:
Superb mate, cheers.
Daz. :daumenhoch:
-
I look at that footslap board every day, dont think anybody
will ever go that high again.
-
wow - love the NR pic. beautiful style - Great stuff. Southsea KOS brings up bad memories for me, I air to the right so the extended vert didn't help and don't do undervert very well so it was a shite competion for me. I remember going for a footplant on the palnk of wood and missed it completley, crashing to the bottom of the bowl, what a disaster. I think I placed last in that comp. That's a scary bowl.
-
those pics are so kool, even modern day riders would find it hard to go that high in that bowl ;)
-
So much style in those photo's, MOTO 4 Helmets and not a piss pot helmet in site, real BMX. :daumenhoch:
-
Seeing as they went down so well - here are some more......

i used to know a few riders from the I.O.W.

ps. this was a great pic taken from koc 86.

That's virtually identical to the one footer that was already posted up! (Just more folk in the crowd..)
Are those two pics definetly from different years?
I didn't think Neil had that bike that long....
I'm sure when I was doing all the BFA nationals in '86 he was already OFF Skyway and ON Holeshot....
He's even got the same Vans on.... MUST be from the same comp! Or was it a different K.o.S. at Southsea from '85?

It's the same comp - look at the crowd behind - it's the same people for sure.
It just brings the whole thing about which year into question again. I was thinking '86 but I'm not 100%, which is why I asked.
Anyway - what ever the year, it was great to watch, and I'm glad I could bring some of it back to life on RadBMX.
-
maybe it was 85. i just put 86 cos the subject said 86/87.
it wasn't 87 cos campbell was in the rebellious street mode by then. neil had quit the sport. maybe the title should be changed to 1985.
-
Also remember that Jess was alley ooping every air off the vert and West field was getting that high off the undervert!!!!
Mark, i cant remember you being there :D
-
99.9 % certain it's 85 as me and Slade were there and this is why I remember.....
Dave woke up in the Hotel room we were in at about 03.00 Saturday night and proceeded to puke up thick lumpy sick in to the sink that stunk like the Devil arse. He then collapsed back on his bed and couldn't get back up. The problem was the sink was blocked, the smell was horrendous and some fooker had to unblock the sink. With no tools to do it with, silly b@stard here had to put my hand in and unblock it, gipping like fook myself!!! He fooking knew about it in the morning I can tell yer!!!
Daz. :knuppel2:
-
100% its 85 as i've already said!!! Keyhole won it that year!
-
KEYHOLE KID
that strange little guy from stubbington :LolLolLolLol:
Mr likely master of the bumpy bowl of doom :daumenhoch:
-
It was '85. The first attempt got rained off, though it did stop pishing down eventually. Thats when the riders put on a bit of a demo for the soaked crowd. The Skyway US team also did a show on the flat and Hugo Gonzalez ripped it up on the Quarter pipes.
I think it was re-run the following weekend, though couldnt get down for that one.
Got Hugo & scotty freeman to sign the July '85 Freestylin' cover though.Nice :)

I stole Neil's one-footer for the "Wow" photo album on my Myspace. And there are only two pictures in there so far. A testiment to the badassedness of that style ;D
EDIT: one hand-one footer
-
Neil owned one footed tables, heres a perfect one from 83 can you believe. take a bow
