right after racing sunday my bike was muddy a f**k so last night i cleaned it .cleaned chain and freewheel with wd 40.chain runs sound but the freewheel sounds like grittyinside how can i get rid of this and get it sweet again.must have sprayed half tin wd onto the front face of the freewheel trying to get it clean inside ?

WD 40 can be used to remove grease. It breaks it down.
You've now probably got a freewheel with no grease in it, except for any grit thats in there!!
If you've removed the grease then you'll need a new freewheel as it will wear down quickly!! :(
-
how do ya cleamn em then when they are gritty as fook after sunday ?
ps that was a new one fitted it friday lol
-
I haven't a clue!! ???
But WD40 is not the way to go.
If you remove a freewheel then use WD40 on the threads to ease removal.
But Squirting it into a Freewheel is a big No No!!
Luckily Stodgy is flogging some Freewheels!! :daumenhoch:

Most Freewheels have 2 pin holes for a 2 pin spanner!!
Maybe you can take it apart and regrease it!!
Its much easier to just buy a new one though!!
-
i got some spare ones only prob is i dont have the removal tool
-
They usually cost £5-£7 posted!!
Make sure you get the 4 pronged one (if ya freewheels a 4 pronged that is) :daumenhoch:
-
looks like you'll be borrowing my removal tool again Greg ;)

NEVER use WD40 on bearings you can't re-grease!!!
IT will screw them.
anyway; if it's a decent freewheel [shimano etc]
get it taken apart and re-greased, a good bike shop will do this for you.
but it will probobly cost only a couple of quid more to buy a new one.
good luck.....Skids
