Title: The devil makes work for idle hands.
Post by: fouronethreeoh! on October 29, 2008, 12:24 PM
I picked up a bit of a dog of a dirtbike earlier this year as a fixer/rider.
Due to working shifts i tend to have a fair bit of time at home to, erm, fiddle with things  :coolsmiley:
Heres how i got it

It wasnt long before it got stripped down and i got busy sorting out the good from the bad.
The paint stripper was a must.

The frame turned out to be pretty tidy under all that rattle can paint.
Being a bit keen to ride it i threw most of the bits back on.

Decided after riding it through the summer that it needed some refinement, so after some ebay and some bits from the shed.

did  you have to get rid of a hideous seat, to replace it with a hideous seat?

Apart from the seat it looks real nice. I really like that raw finish  :4_17_5:

The chrome was shot on the cranks, flaking and quite rusty although didnt look it in the pics.
Stripped the chrome off and they are now black oxide finish not painted.

I know what people are saying about the seat, i gotta admit it looked better in the pic, not as stumpy as it looks on the bike.
Too tight to buy another though, this is how its going to get ridden.
