Been offered a Race Inc frame, but I dunno anything about them. It's an early chromoly frame (blue) with Tange TX 500 chrome forks. The frame is in original paint, and apparently mint. I've seen pics, and it looks nice, but always hard to tell how good it really is. The decals are original, but quite faded. I have bought some really nice bits from this feller before, and I trust his description, so I'm assuming it is really nice.
Any idea of it's value peeps ? Are they rare, or sought after at all, or not particularly ?
Mucho gracias hombres

I thought Race Inc.s were all alloy so I`m not going to be a lot of help on this one :idiot2:
Stuntmaster might be able to help though, hes got a couple that need forks :daumenhoch:
-

have it!!!
for a more positive ID try over at vintagebmx. there are some race inc gurus on there
-
I don't go onto VBMX, and I don't think they'd like it if my first post was a 'what's this worth ?' thread ;D
I wouldn't mind having it, just dunno what it's worth. He wants $400 for it ???
-
not so much "what's it worth" more like what was the model / year / rareness
what it is worth to you is your business!!!
vbmx is a good place.
dont try and crack jokes there though. and dont expect any fast page loads.
tons a good bikes though.
the museum pics are a good guideline for applying decals to an old school ride
-
oh yeh, they did make a cromo one and that looks pretty cool....
-
If my memory serves me correct, you've got an old RM2(the "m" referring to "moly" as opposed to the aluminium frames that were all coded "RA")Nice find,i had a chrome version of this in 82-got nicked. But now i've got a hand painted one from the states, just awaiting resto. These all appear to have come with undrilled, centreline forks from new.
Hope this helps
Dave.

Looks cool , be prepared to spend shed loads on bits to make it BLING ! ;)

Re the forks:
Drilling some Race Incs to accept a brake (in his pretty spiff basement workshop setup) took a friend's dad an afternoon, a gallon of coolant and a number of good quality drill bits. VERY strong forks.

Your friend must be MAD :LolLolLolLol:
Race Inc's were race bikes , no front brake :idiot2:
-
rm2 frame and forks not that rare as they do pop up on ebay at times ,not as rare as ra10 which are the rarest of raceinc`s that lucky for me have two . stickers look like new ie new paint job poss . if you ever part with it let us know as allways looking for more raceinc`s for the collection :)
-
Not sure how you think the decals look new. They are almost faded away ???
-
i could be wrong but i don`t remember gold stickers on blue frames but then again rm2 were never a frame i had as a kid .frame looks too good to be original what the story on it then
-
I'll try and get a bit more info on it. I haven't bought it yet, I'm still thinking about whether I want it or not
Cheers
Guy

This would be about 1983, though you're right, he was an idiot. Back then all he or anyone else knew was that it came from the States and it was a cut above some of the sh1te the rest of us were riding at the time.
His dad was a doctor, hence the moolah to spend on his kid's bike, and the need for a front brake -safety reasons.
Far as I know, the bike was never raced in a competition, just used as a general purpose BMX bike. One you could do endos on.
-
this is all I could find on Race Inc after going through my bookmarks:
http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/race_inc./ (http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/race_inc./)
Confirms the above there was a cro-mo version...
hope that is of some help.

Well I finally managed to get it bought today. :)
It is NOS, and I have bought other stuff from this guy so I trust his description. I'll get some pics, and maybe a frame no. (if they have them ? ? ) when it arrives.
I've bought a repro gold decal set too, but not going to apply them, just keep 'em with, just incase :daumenhoch:
Any info on parts list would be greatly appreciated, but I may just choose to stare at the nakedness of it for a while ;)
Managed to get it a bit cheaper too :)
Cheers for all your help so far fellers
Guy :daumenhoch:

Not sure if they were sold as a complete bike Guy, unless a bike shop built them up, they were generaly built up as light as possible seeing as they were a light f/f anyway ;)
-
Cheers Bill. So high dollar parts to build then, to keep the weight down ? Typical ;D
-
Well I had an alloy one bitd so it was built up as light as possible, 18lbs was its lightest but then I put blue tuffs on it and the frame broke whist I was doing bunny hops over some milk crates :idiot2:
-
Finally arrived this afternoon. No serial numbers anywhere though.
It is NOS, but there are signs of 'shelf wear' in a few places. I have a decal set for it too, but not sure if I'm gonna fit it, or not. :-\ Nice looking frame though :)

Can't do baby bell I'm afraid, you'll have to make do with Darth Tater

Darth Vader does not cut the Mustard in my book.
In the absense of Baby Bell, you will have to opt for the pop can option

You stupid boy Pike ::)
