-
awesome pics neil.was looking to see if i was in any of them but realised i was always to far behind you.haha.
-
I dunno, that gate picture from herne Bay i'm in lane 6 and about 5th place at the bottom of the hill, but know i was 1st by the end of the straight....should make tracks with power straights on nowadays, not so hard to fall off in a straight line :LolLolLolLol:
plenty of peeps to see in there though, Steve M, James M, Richard T and Dan w to name a few old friends
and the good old days of vale View school playground, where i learnt practically everything i know about bike handling :smitten:
-
Like the Zeronine ad repo pose with the frame pad in your hand ;D
-
remove that pic of me mate lol
-
you and my sis in the same pic again ;D ;D you sure you wasnt hiding anything
-
Cool pics :daumenhoch:
-
Cool pics Neil.
You were obviously a top rider back in the day. What titles did you win?
-
1984 and 1985 #1 Folkestone flyers, buckmore bats and hernebay flyers oh and south east region
1984 #27 UK (only did 6 nationals)
1985 #36 uk (only did 4 nationals)
but never made a national final? always underperformed against people i could easily beat? Nerves? or not familiar with tracks? who knows?
08 #2 Hersden old school :LolLolLolLol:
-
Neil.
I see nothing to laugh at, you won trophies and had a good time, made lots of friends and a lifetime of memories... As for the burner it did its job for you as it did for many BITD :daumenhoch:
Ray.
-
Cool pics Neil :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks, just funny laughing at my teenage appearance, who knows maybe i look funnier these days :idiot2:
Mike, wouldn't say i was a top rider bitd, tallented, but not top. And lucky to have been a bit bigger than most kids my age :daumenhoch:(look at Big Kev40 stood next to me, he's two years older ):LolLolLolLol:
Loved my burner, but not enough to want another....as for everything else BMX gave me, would never knock it, built confidence etc etc, for a kid who formerly did not mix and was very shy and retiring. (Perhaps that was the problem with nationals, stage was too big, so prefered to fade into the background around people i did not know?) Need a physcologist :crazy2:
-
Wow Magoo! i always love your pics you put up on RAD!... wish we could have famous riders at our presentastion nights! ;) ;)
-
thats the last of 'em now, except the really poor ones, y'know, like where my mum's just got my front wheel coming into frame :LolLolLolLol:
I'll come and do presentations for yer, need to find a way of getting some extra dosh to pay to get my knee fixed privately, wife refused to let me do it, cos she thinks in a few months down the line i'll have another injury.....what does she know? (More than me probably) :LolLolLolLol:
-
:LolLolLolLol:
-
Enjoyed looking at them neil :daumenhoch: i've seen te-harve in pic ~34 i think, holding his trophy next to charlie reynolds(jays in his youngs shirt) still wears a cap like a knob :LolLolLolLol:
-
dude.... blast from the past thats J HARVEY in the YOUNGS shirt next to Charlie Reynolds and me in the RALEIGH gear
;D ;D ;D
just to add on these .. thats Mr Rusty's brother next to Magoo from what i think must have been a buckmore summer series
and an american dude called benny in the TORKER JT suit who stayed over in kent
good to see... nice 1
-
raleigh gear - oh dear? can't remember your name, save extreme perv a job...have to say my memory for gating and jumping and cranking hard, brilliant, names and faces......doh :uglystupid2:
-
i was in the same age group mr magoo we must of raced against each other at some stage did you do any nbmxa nationals or just uk?
-
No only UKBMXA, but i do remember your name, who knows could be from mags, or perhaps our paths crossed, as if no racing local used to make my Dad take me to the otherside of outer mongolia, even if only a club race, rather than have a sunday without a race, even used to be one of the hardcore Boxing day racers at Buckmore, and new years day races too, even though my old man is scottish, and had to come home from the pub to take me :LolLolLolLol:
what area did you live in bitd mate?
-
lived in nottingham but like you raced everywhere was racing at least twice a week sometimes three with the evening meets ,burned myself out with it early 87 and packed in .but what great days
-
that could be it then, spent a week or two in Nottingham area with Big Kev40 and his dad one summer, can't remember where we raced, but came home with trophies. (kinda have some memories of racing in a dog stadium)? but getting old, maybe it was a dream.
I got out in '86 but started again last may, till i knackered my knee about 7 weeks ago :'(
-
the dog stadium was no dream that was one of two tracks nottingham had at the time
-
there we go then, sourthern lad raced there and took silverware, and some other track possibly Nottingham area, memory really bad on this one.... on top of a hill that overlooked a town? (narrows it down)just remember this really long field seemed like we had to walk for ages from car to track, kinda place you'd find a boot fair now?
-
Super pics, Neil. Your Wigan pic, is that Three Sisters?
-
yep, the one and only, my fave national track, hmmm maybe Ipswich or Grimsby (scored good points at them too).
drove past chorley at the weekend on the way to Blackpool
-
we raced at nottingham race course dronfield demons and derby if memory correct you walked away with 3 first i had a 1st and 2 2nds
-
Havent had computer linkat home for a while now.But nice pics , Dave the mc was a pukku bloke ,bay track looked etter than i can remeber.
-

-
ace pics, love em (and allegro's) was your dads a 'vandem plas'? lol :daumenhoch:
-
no, nice shinny hot sweaty vinyl seats, lovely on a frosty winters day after getting freezing next to the track, get into them cold seats :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
Here's a snippet of racing at the Three Sisters track. #8 is my brother, David Westwell. I believe the track changed a bit after this film was taken, which was about 81/82. It shows some naff racing by me too (especially after a crash) but you can see the track as it initially was :) I preferred the Chorley track over Three Sisters, I thought it was streaks ahead and great to ride, much faster.
http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g116/annadapter/?action=view¤t=ThreeSisters-1.flv
-
enjoyed that....first time i raced three sisters was in 84 i think, might have been 83, but sure i'd just started and didn't do nationals till the following year?
changed loads since that film, that looks realy tame, especially the whoops in the second straight, you wouldn't buy one of them car window stickers "i've jumped wigans whoops" for them little things.
Like your riding style, sitting down, that suits me nowadays :LolLolLolLol:
