Yip its good to see with alot of riders these days looking like robots on bikes Bestwicks vert riding looks so effortless he is so dialled.
I am a big fan of Bestwick but I am looking forward to Mirra's return to vert as this man has also got some incredible bike handling skills.

I seen a lot of riders slagging this dvd simply because its a Levis production...

apparently Levis isn't  'Bmx' ... unlike their £2 Primark extra tight girls jeans!!

which i just dont get at all...  ???

This dvd was just Amazing... EVERYONE knows that!!

Same thing with Nike 6.0 too... ppl are always slagging em off!!

Ok they're not Bmx companies but i just cannot see how thats a problem!!

wot am i not seeing??

Nike, it's the SB 6.0 program, you know what that SB stands for don't you. Stop putting us in the same bucket as the plank pushers and I might look at your multi coloured clown shoes, otherwise fook off.

I really fancied some of thsoe nike 6.0s but on the foot they feel nowhere near as good as my DCs.

though I'm current wearing Dyrdek singature DCs which are skate specific, but feel good on and aren't too bulky round the ankle, which means they miss my pegs. lol.

as for Bestwick...he does f***ing rule don't he, can't seem to turn on X channel without seeing him in action.

it's funny that folks hate it when their interest gets real commercial, like Levis doing a video, it;s good for the sport, it gets the sport exposure.

I think alot of people are still bitter because when the ars* fell out of bmx the first time round the big corporates deserted bmx leaving the riders to run the sport if you like. Many like the close knittedness of rider run companies, comps etc and now bmx is fashionable again they dont think the big boys should get a piece of the action.
As i said before its widely debated and if your interested theres some good links from bicycleunion's site on the subject.
I thought the vid was superb but different from the usual n/s vid, i was interested in peoples comments in the thread i started on it as i thought some would slate it but actually i dont think there was one negative comment.

Quite an interesting read!!  :daumenhoch:

"If Nikes gonna buy their way into BMX there gonna need to invest more than money"  Wise words!!

I remember Adidas sponsoring riders back in the late 80's too...

Dennis McCoy and  Joe Johnson to name a couple

not sure how long Adidas lasted in the sport?? did they not sponsor Haro riders in the mid 90's??

I ride with a few riders who are sponsored by Nike 6.0...

They seem to be getting a pretty good deal with them!!

I think it could be great for the sport, more exposure, more interest..

After Bmx racing became a part of the Olympics..

i spoke with many ppl who thought Bmx as a sport didn't exist anymore other than little kids

on bmx bikes out in the street!!!!  :-\

maybe more televised events through Nike & Levis could change the that whole stigma of bmx...

Would it be any different to the 'Tizer' worlds???  Coke a Cola??? Kellogs ( as mentioned )???  :-\

that's  a really good point about the companies back in the day, Kellogs were probably the number one brand in the UK back then, okay, maybe after Coke, but you couldn't watch commercial TV stations without seeing a Cornflakes ad.

Yes, but surely they were the original band wagon jumpers

Yeah for sure, but no one minded back then did they, it got the sport some major exposure, though to be honest it didn't need much help back then did it.   :daumenhoch:

Nice vid but there's not a fooking chance any corporate sponsor would prop up BMX when it falls on hard times again. They see it as nothing more than a ca$h machine. Once it's all used up again they'll pull the rug & won't be seen for dust

It'll be like the good old days all over again! can't wait! >:D

I agree but there's something nice about seeing people like Morgan Wade getting something back.

Some interesting comments on this thread. Like most I thought the Levi's DVD was great. Hadn't thought really hard about the hi-corporate sponsership thing until now...

Someone said they don't / wouldn't read DIG magazine. Why? When I got back into BMX'ing in the late 90's I really enjoyed reading DIG. And the last issue was really good too. Is it because it is just so far removed from Old School? I prefer to keep an interest in both camps if it is - don't want to give up the last flourish of youth just yet...

These new riders, kids really, and doing some amazing things with their bikes. Hopefully there will always be progression in BMX regardless of the monies involved...

Mark.

It's funny, to me Dig always stood for the rider owned companies etc. , now the editor is TM for Nike 6.0

I too was surprised to learn that many members on here refuse to read both Dig and Ride I suspect your right about it being because its so removed from oldschool but sure there will be other reasons.
I myself feel the same when it drops through the letterbox as i did 25 years ago when bmxactionbike dropped, I think many just wont give n/s a chance.
I think the progression thing has been proved as some of the biggest progression in bmx took place during the dead years.

Totally agree & I think all sponsored riders who ride for non BMX, corporate co's should milk them for all they can get! with regard to the Levi's film, some of the posing footage in their jeans 'product' was really quite sickening in a blatantly using BMXer's as a vehicle to sell more product stylee.

cynical moi?

the vid is good, too much barspin, tailwhip, backflip etc...  for my liking but that is the fashion at the moment, bestwick rocks, i love seeing single tricks being done huge, tricks like supermans, double can cans and indian airs, no rushing to fit it all in just one big slow smooth trick

Nice vid but there's not a fooking chance any corporate sponsor would prop up BMX when it falls on hard times again. They see it as nothing more than a ca$h machine. Once it's all used up again they'll pull the rug & won't be seen for dust

i totally agree with you :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: id rather buy my bike stuff from a company who are rider owned and who have been here for the good and bad times and have my intrests at heart rather than a corprate company who wanna make even more cash than the millions there already making daily

as for bmx mags like ride, i stopped buying it in the mid 90's when it became more about advertising than it did about actual riding itself, never really read dig as when it was first issued nowhere really stocked it

i pretty much dont follow what happens in bmx anymore i just like riding my bike and at the end of the day aslong as you go ride your bike and have fun with it thats all that matters :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
