Right then - got myself a nice pair of NOS tioga comp3's with the 20-odd year old release powder still on ;)
Now do I leave it on (probably maintaining their worth) or say bollocks to that and give 'em a nice soapy wash and get 'em all shiney for the showy they're goin on ? It's not like I'm planning on selling them so i'm thinking get 'em cleaned :daumenhoch:
Any thoughts.................. ???

well, depends how easy it is to get off.
some times it's gone a bit gunky, i had a set of black panaracer freestyle tyres and it took for goes with a pressure washer to get em clean, i wished I'd never started.
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Ahhh......right then......err - yep it looks a little gunkish with age now you mention it >:(
Decisions, decisions - do I or don't I :-\
-
My thoughts, mount them to a suitable coaster, and ride them like you used to >:D
-
put them on, and go for a ride. giving the bike good thrapping...
that way , they will look how they are meant to :daumenhoch:
-
Just spray on a decent tyre shine.. job done.

Nice one leary i'd been thinkin about the old back to black tyre shine stuff but i thought i'd need to get rid of all the powder first - are you sayin you've used the tyre shine with the powder still on ?
-
I use this stuff. Don't have to clean off the powder - just spray it on and then give it a bit of a wipe after 15 mins to clean off the excess :daumenhoch:

BTW don't use it while your tyres are on the rims otherwise your brakes won't work :LolLolLolLol:

My tyres always looked nice and clean after a ride about in the snow !
Not sure this is really helpful but might be an excuse to go out on a bike and have a ride round in it.
It's another good reason to have a coaster brake ;)

If the release powder still looks reasonably good , kinda like light grey/white colour I'd leave it . If the powder has gone a funny colour or just looks crappy then just clean off , soapy water etc .
Post a pic of the tyres in question ? .

also beware riding with back to black on tyres as makes them very slippy
