Title: Pro Star?
Post by: aditup 2234 on November 15, 2008, 03:04 PM
Why is it you never seem to hear about anybody building or restoring "Prostar"
Were they not related to Mongoose?
I know they were only a mid class bike in the day, but I have seen peeps building what I regarded as lower class bikes BITD.
Just wondering?

Pro Star only really did one popular bike Ad and they were Burner spec steel everything

They did do a more upmarket Team spec but they are just rehashed 70's Diamond Backs in reality (the same frame was called a Centurion in Oz) think they were off the market by 83

Here's the same frame at the bottom of the DB range in the late 70's

Nice to see you on the site again matey  :daumenhoch:

Yep, as John has mentioned, I am currently building / restoring a humble Pro-Star.
The frame was bought through ebay, no forks unfortunately.

Despite the bike not being a sought after or high spec bike, it has always had an affinity with me, as a mate had one BITD.
In fact, I have recently been in touch with him, and he still has the same bike.
Mine has just been de-chromed, and is set for a bit of polishing, and then off to the chromers, hopefully before christmans.
Ad, I will post some pics in the tech and resto to update the progress.
