hi whats the stack height of oddy evolver and dia compe hombre please
got 90s ad990 at momnet stack height is 32mm need to get it down bit
does anyone make blue calipers and leversa new school
-
hi dude
they're U-brakes not calipers.
when you say stack height do you mean the distance fromt he chain/seat stay to the front of the brake?
I'm guessing you have a chainstay mount of AD brakes and your chain might hit the brake as you hafve a small sprocket on your crank?
I have a Hombre on my ride, I'll measure it tomorrow for you, but would thing the hombre/ad 990 are pretty similar, you'll need a trendy and more expensive CNC'd brake like a fly I would think to get the profile down.
how ever i could be completely wrong. :daumenhoch:

ive measured from the bottom of the brake to the top where the b=nut tightens it and its 32 mm .im only running 39t but its just touching .thought newer hombre or evolver might just be enough lower to get it sorted .
-
let me go measure my Hombre then.
back in two minutes.
-
right dude
not sure I under stand what you are measuring.
the brake at it's mounting bolt (Hombre) is only about 25mm from the mounting bush tot he front of the bolt.
the only thing that measures near 38mm is the brake block and it's mounting hard ware but not sure how that fouls the chain.
a pic of what you have would be most useful. i don't understand the "stack" bit.
kind regards Joe

You may well struggle with an orginal AD of any type fitted to a chainstay lugged bike, if you're looking to drop the sprocket size. You used to be able to buy aftermarket bolts sets that used a custom made slim nut that housed a countersunk machine screw and this took a good few mm off the stack height. I'd guess you won't find them anymore though....
You'll probably have more luck with a modern expensive job like JT says :)

my hombre measures about 25mm.
just gonna get the bike out of the van now and make sure I'm measuring the right place.
-
right, broke out an AD990, old school one, 32mm.
Hombre, on my Colony front brake, 24mm
so probably enough of a saving there for you.
tried to get some pics of it along with the tape measure, but my camera phone isn't up to the job. :daumenhoch:

25mm would do it as its only just catching chain

Hombre's are your friend then. 24mm
get an all black one from the rad shop, £13.95 plus post including an AD brake plate.
then flog the brake plate for like £7 or summat and it makes for a cheap hombre.
i say that as they are all black, the hombres I've seen for sale on their own come in all manner of colours but always seem to have
green hardware.
