just got this from a mate - some nice bits on it redline cranks and cheng shin tires (with bobbly bits ) and some bits i don't know and would like some info on
The bike rides very smooth - feels dialed - as is very light and makes me think that maybe has been used for racing of some sort ? same ride feeling as my Raleigh PRO Burner - geometry feels right !
so if you have any info on the bike or part that would be most helpful to know what i got here ! cheers B
as it came

deffo looks like a race frame due to the canti mounts, bars are exposure who were a late 90's good but budget type brand, flights are twin pinch which u can buy brand new today for less than £100, the chainring bolt looks like its one someone had lying around when they lost the original allen key bolt, owens cycles are quite a well known bmx shop in petersfield not far from me in portsmouth, looks like it was bought as a complete bike and has had things changed overtime, hope some of this helps

Late 90s/early 00s race bike from the days when The Foster Bros, Joey Garcia, Tim Strelecki were on the team. Can't remember exactly, but think they were called Schwinn XS range.
-
looks alright that don't it?
when did cantis appear on bmxes? must have been after ADs and before V's, then AD's sort of became the norm.
the wellgo pedals would have had the screws as standard, a lot of platofrm pedals came like that in the 90s, DMR v12s and such like.
the wheels and tyres look a lot like you'd get on a night burner, them black cheng shins must be worth a few bob.

1996-2001ish USA made flights... not the same as the ones made in TingTong today :daumenhoch:

Looks a nice bike ;)

rides bloody well - feel the bars are a bit big - what are the hubs ? - joe your prob right about the night burner ;)

96 has bigger bottom tube
any one know the stem ?

It's earlier than 96...
I had an XS Schwinn in the summer of 96 and mine had 1 1/8 Headset and a few changes to the one you have... I'd guess at a year or two earlier.
mine:
