bit pricey for a novelty bike.

from the hardo website....
"it took us 2 years to get this bike out as we've been spending alot of time propping up our dieing mtb range, but it feels like 30 as none of us actually knew of or worked at hardo when it was out!!
the year was 1978. The rider was Bob Hardo. we didnt even know there was money to be made yet, but the man had a vision. That vision is locked in time a little bit by this bike. The Original Freestyler isnt a retro bike in the purest sense as we had a load of mid school parts left over from our "shyster" range a years ago and threw them on it, our p-chop guy did the stickers for us and thats all it needs really-instead it is a 1990's interpretation of the bike hardo used to get the ball rolling,it features lots of conveniences like a chrome toilet that you can take a dump in any time you want,
old school or old tool? you decide
we only know one thing for certain-you fookers will buy anything and this hardo original freestyler is sad."

Do you think anyone at Haro is aware of what a complete marketing cock up they've made ??? Releasing such a watered down rip off of the original??
They could have doubled the price and made a decent job of it and the haro fan's out there would have still bought it?
-
was up with the headangle looks well relaxed lol

I'm, to be honest, looking foward to seeing the bikes people make out of the frame and forks.

i was thinking the same! would be very hard to ride me thinks.....i thought they were going to use the Mirra 540 geometry?
:crazy2:

£400?
now that's a lot of Wonga for that, and still no front brake??? or if there going to be I assume it's a regular caliper, but every pic i see shows no front brake, on a retro freestyle bike I would have thought that would be essential?
-
I've got you lot sussed, trying to put people off so you can buy them all up for yourselves >:D ;D
Ray.
-
Think of it as a homage to the past. ;)

good point...
could make a good retro build up?
-
yeah but you still have to fork out £400 for it in the first place
-
for a Hi Ten steel frame and forks :crazy2:
-
Thats what i thought?? But Alans say its 100% crmo
-
really?! i thought the haro site said it was only the main downtube that was cro mo? :-\
-
Looks pants and expensive too! >:(, I much prefer the original that's why I have 2 of the fookers! :D
-
:wtf: You could get a second hand aero reflex for that dosh on evil bay ;D ;D ;D

i just think it goes to show what utter contempt haro holds bmx in,
we're not talking about bob haro here either, that fooker is a genuine legend and is nothing to do with the name "haro bikes" anymore,
its a cheap shot at a retro bike,
ffs SE racing has built a whole range around the retro flavour, ok theyre not amazing bikes but theyre damn good,
skyway seem to have done a decent job of it too,
i keep trying to imagine that haro thing with some decent parts on it and a little thought put into the build but why would anyone bother?
it's like they didnt give a shit about the frame-fork-bar kit and that somehow de-values the thing from the word go,
i'll say this for the retro quad though, check the geometry, its pitched perfectly at the right market,

' I just think it goes to show what utter contempt Haro holds bmx in'
mmm, I'm not sure about that Darker. They might be taking the piss with this mock-tudor POS, but their new race bikes are dialled. Whenever somebody starts a 'What bike should I buy my son?/What's the best stock race bike?' type of thread on bmxtalk, it's always Haro that gets mentioned along with Redline and Kuwahara. They've put a lot of effort into the new range and the bikes have good geometry and a good spec level. Theres even a niche-market 18" race bike, which to me shows a real commitment to putting bums on seats at grass roots level, and that can't be a bad thing. And all the range is good value for money. They may have got it badly wrong with this attempt at a retro bike, but who buys crap like that anyway? I'm not sure about their other products either, but in racing circles they've got a lot of support.
