the equilevent to a team murray :-\
i started out on a team murray,
i was so chuffed when i got that badboy on christmas morning,
some kid out there will get one of those tesco specials for christmas and feel the same way,
so in one way that makes it better than my custom built s&m,
and thats the best bike on this whole forum ;)
irony.
-
Some kids gonna get that thing for xmas...
and snap that stem... then face meets floor!! :-\
-
thread about these on Talk, my thoughts are thats something similar in quality and financially to what i started on
and yes it made my xmas, having a BMX, then i found racing upgraded several times making my local proper bike shop rich
and the rest is history
don't knock it if it
A. brings in new kids to the sport, and
B. keeps BMX in the limelight, even if only on bustop boardings
no such thing as bad publicity :daumenhoch:
-
I started on a team murray too :daumenhoch:

lmao chris maybe he's in talks with the big boys :LolLolLolLol:

hey if it makes them smile and happy and warms the hearts of the parents that see them open it up then so be it :yahoo_silent:
-
tis no worse than me making my lad race my old appollo all summer, and he's only 8, but he stuck with it, even though he kept coming last, cos of the weight and 44-16 gearing....i'm so mean.... but on the plus side, he has a nice Kuwahara Junior in the garage for xmas :4_17_5:

I started on a team murray like this, one thing for sure that tesco bike will be much lighter than the metal magged murray.

me too,
nearly bought a murray a while ago to replicate what i had bitd,
that tesco one still looks good value @£39.99,
wonder if they end up doing a recession type one called a "tesco value" for £20 ::)

i saw an advertisemet for one of tjose on a bus stop
it was a different pic though with the bars on the left .there was rust around the bottom bracket :wtf:
then my mate decided to go to tesco and we tried picking one up :2funny: it was like a tank :LolLolLolLol:

It's all relative. By 1980s standards, those Team Murrays were low end, but were still semi-credible BMX bikes for that era. That Tesco bike isn't a credible BMX bike at all.
But like some have said, for a kid who can't afford anything better or whose parents won't/can't buy them anything better, I suppose a £40 special from Tesco is better than nowt and will hopefully help the kid catch the BMX bug.

if it get's kids on BMXs then it's all good. Yeah they've used old tech on it, but it's cheap and gotta be better to have a kid ripping around on one of these rather than playing Dave Mirra on the Xbox?
Hopefully the kids dad will drop the stem down, ditch the bell, the chain guard and the fleccies and off the kid goes.
can't see you getting much more fun for £40, yes it'll be heavy but that never stopped me on my Mki Lead Burner.

That Tesco Bike is gonna get some one hurt. They shouldn't be aloud to sell that kinda weak heavy crap.
