Which has just been dragged at an awkward angle down 6 foot of mini ramp.
The ageing human body is crap. It sets you back.
Anyway, ive been practicing on the mini, rollin in, popping out, and rolling back back in to eventually get a handle on peg grinds.
Thats not too bad, but as soon as I try to place my pegs on the coping, i realise i am leaning far too much towards the deck, too do anything of use, and within a flash its feet off pedals time.
so I have tried to get pegging in right.
Now, i can roll in on 12 foot of vert, but given 5 foot of halfpipe and 2 pegs, it all goes to pot..
I can also do that cheat where the left crank arm is down, and you kind of push of the deck with your right, but still placing your pegs on the coping.
I just cant seem to place the weight right, for proper pegging, and end up doing the slide of shame.
its not that i dont know how it should be done, ( right pedal on the deck, weight over the pipe, turning in) its just that i cant seem to do it. its not a natural position for the body to be over that nothingness.
how have you got over it?
or is it just doing it a thousand times, and fooking your foot on every one? :-\

Speak to JT71!!!
He was trying for months then found a way to do it! And speak to Jedi and Philbert. Both of them helped :daumenhoch:
-
Practice makes perfect Phil, you should have had a ride with you at Creation the other week and took some coaching from someone on how to do it :daumenhoch:
-
You just need an evening of me shouting at you bud, that'll see it learnt ;)
Pegging in; committment is key. Get up on your pedals, crank back slightly so that your pedal isn't resting on the deck, hurl yourself in, pull bike over so it's perpendicular to the riding surface, look where you want to go and turn in. All in one fluid motion ;D
Forget the one footed cheat, it'll just hurt you.
Yeah, you need to do a thousand of em. They don't need to hurt you every time though mate.

Girl
ive never seen you on a bike nick.....lol

i decided that rather than feel guilty about not riding , i would actually not take a bike.

It's not a pretty sight !
Endo is about my limit :-\

Phil. You need to leave the feet on, worst case, your face will cushion the blow as it normally does :daumenhoch:
-
i tried.
honestly i did, but sliding horiizontally down a ramp makes me pop a leg for stability, which ends in the swollen shoe blues.
-
look lean turn
-
look lean turn
thats like the "mister men" version of how to do it.
you forgot,
pause,
fret,
and fall.
heh heh
-
pegging in is simply.esp if someone holds your bike so you can practice the body movement before axctually dropping in
-
thats where im going wrong.... i need more slaves......
thanks for the advise pal. ;)

any time

All I will say is don't over steer - I did that and came a cropper...
-
and hurt their foot.

All I will say is don't over steer - I did that and came a cropper...
I would have thought that is quite unusual  most under steer and lean back to the platform so sliding down the ramp!
Bru :daumenhoch:
I was starting just pegging in and when dropping I was turning too much and aiming well past 90degrees - first time I did it I was OK then second time bars whipped out of my hands - landed on end of them and bust a rib!!!
Wish I'd under steered ;)
-
can you hurt your foot dropping in then? :)
-
i hope he's available to play at my funeral next week.
-
Someone's hurt their foot??
How??
-
it was walking a mile in another mans moccasins.
-
moccasins can be slippy on mini ramps
-
i learned pegging in on the indoor rom mini, by pat shouting in my ear....fooking do it giller you c_nt

mr Fruit I'm no expert but I can have you pegging in in three goes.
Ray actually taught me to peg in (not my other Senseis Jedi & Philbert, however they taught me everything else I know)
and it took three goes, he even told me the first two goes you'll slide down the ramp, which I did.
a few things to remember.
1. keep your feet on
2. the first couple you'll not commit and if you keep your feet on you just slide down the ramp
3. the main problem you have is balancing before you do it, and whilst twobob is right you don't want you pedal on the deck, it will help you balance, so crank your right pedal forward flat on the deck (assuming pegs are on the right side) get that foot on first and leave it there, get your other foot on and don't try to spend too much time there once on, look, into the ramp then your head shoulders and bars should follow in, in one swift movement. go. it's the trying to balance and thinking about it that makes you wobble.
4. leave your brakes alone.
as for your one footed cheat, that might end up hurting, however, that will be a useful skill when learning grinds/stalls as you can throw you weight up there to get the right position, but have a foot planted on the deck, then manually drop the pegs on to the right place and straight back in with only one foot on the pedals.
Next Tuesday evening at Corby? come on, let's get you pegging in. and then stalling and grinding. it'll be great fun.
-
hmm, ill have a look to see how far it is.
-
where you live?
-
look where your going and less of what your doing fruit.
you dont look at your feet when your walking. :)
-
which is a fooking long way from Corby!
-
Quite near to Rampworkz though! :daumenhoch:

Have you ever been skiing? Just like turning on ski's, weight down the mountain

NO, NO, NO NO NO!!!!!! :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2:
Do NOT leave your platform side pedal on the deck!!!! It's a terrible habit, it WILL HURT YOU EVENTUALLY, and when you come to learn stalls and grinds, it will hold you back, and damage the ramp!
NO, NO, NO NO NO!!!!!!
Fcuk the wobbling around - deal with it.
Get set up, crank back and get the fcuk on with with it!
Or, as my little furry Jedi might say.......... MAN UP!
;)
-
you'll be pleased to know Rob when I stall or grind my pedal is no where near the deck. it means if I over balance i have to step off but i'm keeping my pedal away.
:daumenhoch:
but at first to get set up i had to balance with the pedal on the deck.........but now I see the error of my ways. lol.
-
Hehehe....... ;)
I understand fully where you're coming from bud. But one day, the man with his pedal on the deck will go to peg in, his pedal will get stuck on the coping and he will go straight to shoulder. Far better to wobble about ont' pegs instead :)
-
fact

says the man who wore his plastic pedals out grinding.
