Slightly controversial one this one but who didn't you get on with bitd??
For me it has to be Jason Lunn. Now don't get me wrong he was and still is rad as fook. By far one of THE most naturally talented riders I've ever seen. I am also assured that he's a nice guy and I don't doubt this. However, he really got on my t1ts one day at Southsea. Nicking everyone's run, cutting people up and riding in front of you etc. etc. Man he wound me up.
Please don't turn this in to a slanging match, it's only meant to be light hearted. And if Lunny himself reads it it's only a bit of fun dude, it was a long time ago.

not so much me but i do remember an incident with some mates of mine.
justin was airing in ramp practice at one of the nationals and (i think) neville potts kept poking his bars out over the ramp every time justin aired.
one of our fellow welsh boys phil bevan (who was not someone you mess with) had a 'quiet' word with nev, who refrained from ever doing it again.....
i'll have to rack my brain of stories........
-
RATTY he was one big bully, i used to race him all the time and compared to me at the age of 14 to 16 he was
massive, fooking huge legs and very aggresive when he raced ??? still have nightmares about him today :'(
if i'd never met ratty or raced against him i'm sure i'd be a better man today, fooking scared me shitless :-\

Hehehe.......
I've got a good midschool story to tell, but as time goes by I must be going soft, and I now think it's not as important as it once was.
As for Mr. Ruffell, there's nowt specific to tell really, he was just arrogant and condescending.

some bloke names stupple, always thought he was grumpy, but the fella has deffo proved me wrong, he is the real deal mr chuckle
-
Be honest you were just jealous cos he could do cancan front hops.
I've said this before on here, and I'll happily say it again - one of the raddest things I've ever seen in my life was Ruffell front hopping all the way down the slope at Rom, over to the pool, onto the lip, and in.
I defy anyone to do that today.
Credit whre credits due and all that. But he can poke his cancan front hops up his arse. I'll take Glyn Lewis' no foot front hops over them any day :daumenhoch:

I liked everyone but never understood why Angry would snap at me every so often. Looking back, I suppose I was a bit annoying, lol.
-
Do you think the clue might be in his name??? :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
I just read the first one about Jason Lunn!!!!
I met him through a mutual skater friend[Steve Parker]
Both of them were [and probobly still are] bloody awesome fellas!
the cutting up thing come from skating!!!!you watch any old skating vids and you will see
what I'm talking about.[Jason was a shit hot skater]so it probobly became second nature to "carve in"
It has made me giggle, cos he was such an easy-going bloke[good drummer too]
......................Rode with Day Smith once at southsea KOC. Two bob shuffle munsterer[I wish I'd knocked him out!]

-
As I said in my post dude I've no doubt Lunny was and still is a top bloke and I always had the up-most respect for him as a rider, skater etc. as he can pretty much do the lot! But unfortunately first impressions last! I'm sure one day I'll meet him and find out he really is a top fella.

I had the same sort of thing with Andy Ruffell, Craig Scoffield and Jason Maloney, they used to look down on most people and take the piss, but I`ve met them since and they`re as cool as.
Also me and TwoBob Rob never really saw eye to eye bitd, but he`s one of my biggest fans now :LolLolLolLol:
-
I love the Stupple :smitten:

I hope not! I don't think I've pissed skids off!! Mind you though, I have upset most people..... ;D
Nah, he means Day Smith I'm sure.

jason lunn wasnt too popular back then, being that good probably would have gone to anyones head when they were 14 tho. none of the chingford locals liked him, it was 1986 and we were all 13 or 14 so water under the bridge these days.
-
I didnt meet him till 94 and I remember Peerless telling me he was quite a cocky kid years before.
He was cool when I met him though, would borrow my bike after his skate session in my barn and absolutely rip :daumenhoch:
-
At one of the later Holeshots Jason Lunn had a massive shouting match at a mate of mine (while wearing some motorbike boots with chrome shin guards on them ???. My mate was pretty tuff and a few years older than me and Jason. It was very funny, Lunn totally put him in his place. Later that day my mate got a kicking from the guy doing the comentry. He slagged off what he was saying, without realising his son was stood next to us :-X
I guess my mate didnt have a good day!
-
I always found Jason to be fine, saw him not so long ago...
Who didnt I like? Fook me.. no fooker liked any of us from Southsea in the early 90's so in turn we didnt like quite a few people but thats all water under the bridge now, fook'em! :LolLolLolLol:
There's a few Johnny Big Shots out there now who aren't worth a wank I know that!
-
To be honest if I'd have met myself bitd I wouldn't have liked me, I could be a proper prat sometimes that's for sure. I much more mellow these days as I'm sure most of us are. ;)
Daz.

Dear TWO BOB..........................
Just to let you know, you havn't pissed me off,the term "two bob wayne carr" is a very common-
phrase for me, and was directed at Mr D Smith alone.
;D ;D ;D.......................Skids

It's a phrase I used to use a lot; twobob this, twobob that.... that's how I ended up as TwoBobRob ;)

I have to admit to having a distinct lack of respect (dislike?) for the powers that were the UKBFA peeps, in a very naughty school boy type of way. I knew we needed em, but didnt like some of what they did and tried them whenever I could. I think I was one of the only (if not the only) competitor to actually be fined by them, strange as I flew the competition flag very high too.
A classic case of immaturity and me knowing best at the time.
sometime around my late 20's it dawned on me how important they were (as adults in a kids world) and how much all their efforts really did for my (our) sport.
Whilst I managed to speak with Mr Noble sometime ago and passed on my thoughts and appreciation one of my regrets is that I never got to pass the same thoughts to Colin Kefford (RIP) before he passed.
As for disliking riders????? cant remember ever disliking anybody I met really, guess I always thought there were too few of us to fall out maybe?

I was fined for bringing the sport into disrepute........ >:D
at one of the Nationals (up north somewhere I think) I used a Guana Batz song for my run. The 'f' word appeared in it twice (not particularly clearly I thought).
I received a formal warning (still trying to hunt this down at my mums house as Im sure I still have it) and a fine. If I misbehaved again I was gonna be banned. :knuppel2: They took my fine off my winnings which left me receiving a cheque for about £1.20 :4_17_5: (which I think I have somewhere too) It was my first winnings...........wooohoooo
unlike todays riders I didnt blow it on the Gumball Rally or an MTV style crib. But did crooze around in a £300 mini clubman........living the dream!!!! ::)

Haha great story Ross.

he was always running his mouth, talking shit, cut in peoples lines, chip on his shoulder, huge attitute, everybody owes him something, cocky, thinks every girl wants him, never nice, better than anybody else etc etc etc. kind of guy that would stomp on flowers and kick puppies. we almost got into a fight at a contest,he wouldnt stop hitting on my buddies hot girlfriend and i asked him to stop because she and my buddy were getting pisst and nastazio got up in my face. hes been a prick since he was a teenager. i almost pushed him on his bike into a concrete bowl more than once. :2funny: trust me im not the only one that has rode with him that dont like him......i had to deal with him almost every weekend for about three years :knuppel2:
-
my parents, teachers, police, british rail staff, etc
there was enough people i didn't like...so everyone on a bike was cool wiv me
-
I know I could be a bit of an arse at times, but we were all angst ridden teenagers.
I didnt really dislike anyone though, no hang on, Tabron he was an annoying little so and so.
Andy Brown used to make me laugh, because he always seemed like such a tightly wound coil ready to go off, which he would do more often than not, particularly if you ever cut him up on a ramp ;D But I never disliked him for it.
-
Bloody hell..... Howard Radcliffe!!
Where you been hiding boy?
Happy New Year and all that :daumenhoch:

Just remembered the birds name, Jane Hibbert, if i remember correctly she is a big old butch lesbian, that figures :LolLolLolLol:

Found it very difficult to get on with John Dye, back in the 90s. He definitely thought I was an idiot, which I get a lot so I can't criticise his judge of character.
I think you definitely had to be in his peer group or clique of like-minded individuals. Bit sneery, but I'm a sarcastic & occasionally fractious git so there may have been a personality clash.
But I saw him at Rom a couple of times recently and all seemed well. Water, bridges, growing up etc.
-
"sarcastic and occasionally fractious git"
What a lovely turn of phrase, I must remember to use that myself :daumenhoch:
-
the fookin arseholes that bought on the demise of derby skatepark! the dickheads that worked there toward the end used to charge people on thier bike spec and how tall the seatpost was. all cool as fook part of the bicycle union entourage! the bicycle union lot were sound, just the clingers on that pissed me off

damn wayne,i never knew that! and it wasnt true either-remember i was quite young then-so could have been rude at times? but honestly didnt think that, and we probably only hung out 4 or 5 times if memory serves?will a 20 year old "sorry" be ok?

No need for apologies, matey, and there's no hatchet to bury. Just telling it like I saw it at the time, not now.
We never argued or anything, it just always felt like we weren't on quite the same wavelength. For 'didn't like bitd', read 'didn't quite gel with bitd'. Nothing personal at all; like you said, you were younger than me so I probably saw what I'd been like a few years before. I have moments of Meldrew these days, but I'm nowhere near the loose cannon I was at 17.
-
hindsight is great isn't it??
i quite like being old. apart from hurting all the time (and that's with barely riding)
it just makes me chuckle that a lot of us now sit there clucking at the youth of today and their bmx follies..
we were just as bad then.. i mean, i think i threw a football at congy midrun at backyard once.. what a dick! (me that is)
-
i think i threw a football at congy midrun at backyard once.
Cong has had worse thrown at him on a backyard weekend :-X
Do you think anyone really knew at the time just how Hard Cong is? (he did kick boxing for many years) :buck2:
-
You're joking right? I wouldn't mess with him! Some people have an air of power or control or summat about them and I always got that from Cong. That said, when we did speak (not often really) he was always cool and the gang.
-
Always thought he was a tosser.... Loved it when he bailed a 5 @ Radlands, bike landed on the deck & hit Prattman who duly picked it up & launched it from the top of the vert ramp! :LolLolLolLol:
-
cong was the model of restraint!
was anyone else at the steve jackson leigh on sea jam when jackson came out with the immortal line
"he's a dick but we all love him, it's ratman!" (to dini kennedy in his run)
i did chuckle.......

Ok. I didn't like who John Baron became. Tramps who positioned themselves in front of the MW2 quarters were also an annoyance. Angry when he unleashed on me (otherwise he was cool). That one chick in Chicago who denied me a three-way just because the extra was her stepmom. The dude who freaked out because my boy James accidentally knocked over his motorbike whilst obviously intoxicated. Micki Conti. And to this day, I despise average looking women who have somehow been convinced that they are gorgeous. And there are far too many of the afore-mentioned females. Best bet is to play along, take advantage, then leave them with an unflattering polaroid and a suicide note reflecting upon the horror of waking up next to a pregnant, harpooned Orca with google-eye. The stories I could tell...
