Title: new whip.....
Post by: DJ on December 25, 2008, 05:58 PM
The Remo finally got me off a Haro. I've always had Haro's for as long as I can remember. Working for them also helped I guess?
But Remo hooked me up a new frame & fork combo so I built it up last night... well, I got so far then realised I didnt have a fookin socket set to put the wheel's on so I'd like to thank old Santy Clause for sorting that this morning!! Anyway, the kids are finally in bed so thought I'd post these up...

UnKnown Bike Co. Evo frame 20.6tt & 13.75c/s (made of feathers & string & lighter than a tip top drink WITH the straw in!)
UnKnown Bike Co. BadaBing (?) also made of feathers & string but twice as heavy as normal because of the Apple sticker
FSA Headset
Premium lite stem
Premium Lite bars
Haro grips
Tech 77 (what else?)
Premium pivitol seat & post
Premium Lite front wheel 36 w/ Haro multisurface
Odyysey hazard cassette w/11t on Sunn rim w/ Premium tyre
Premium (not so) Lite cranks
Super* spanish BB
Premium 25t chainring
Haro FR pedals (these pedals are super good)
Sputnic Hammer pegs x2
Got to put chain on & brake which is also UnKnown Bike Co. but Santa didnt bring me the ability to set a brake up OR  a chain breaker!

I wasnt too keen on the gloss black finish so for £7 I got a can of matt black, found a can of gold up the old mans & did my own thing, I like it.
Thanks to Remo & the Vicar for the UnKnown stuff.
James @ Zeal
& the fat guy in Cali.... even though I hate you I cant help but like you (if that makes any sense?)

Post by: DJ on December 27, 2008, 08:23 AM
Yeah 'Twas a good Xmas.... The kids give it a renewed meaning (& cost!)
Even though, it's a story state of affairs when u start looking forward to tools, socks, boxers & aftershave huh?
Praise the lord for my wife & the 3g iPhone she got me, top girl!
Saying that, I am looking at 6.7 litres of Jack Daniels which was all aquired by me on thursday also!
Title: Re: new whip.....
Post by: TwoBobRob on December 27, 2008, 09:41 AM
For a moment, I thought that was going to read '6.7 litres of American muscle car'.......

but no.  Once again you've built me up, then knocked me down!   :LolLolLolLol:

Do you still work for Haro?
Title: Re: new whip.....
Post by: DJ on December 27, 2008, 01:05 PM
Oh no no no.... Stopped that a while back now, last June actually! Them dropping Hennon was too much for me so I went also.
Shame really cause I think I did a good job, we had a great team & the image was improving but hey, business men want to save $500 a month then so be it. I wont be a part of anything I dont believe in..... Mmmmmmm Im not bitter AT ALL  :LolLolLolLol:

Also, it is 6.7 litres of American muscle, just not in an automobile!

Ignorance at it's best Rob, now theres now European program at all, not even 1 rider!

Harris: Cheers mate, I like it. I think once Ive made a new crank axle from dowel & replaced the tubes with cotton wool balls it should weigh in quite low?

ah young Joshua, so much too learn...

If it doesnt come from a certain factory or made by a certain person, ridden by certain people or reviewed in certain publication(s) then of course, people will hear things & thus causing said products to break...

Mine personally will easily break with the weight of dust as Rob so nicely pointed out.... I do want to ride it, REALLY I do!

ive heard of six people with these frames, dj.

six of them have all cracked or broken, and theyve been on the market for how long? 3 months?

this isn't based on magazine or online views i've read, these are real people.
Title: Re: new whip.....
Post by: pickle on December 30, 2008, 12:20 PM
How's Paul M's holding up?  if his hasn't snapped then they can't be that bad.

i heard a few things said about the couple of prototype frames but isn't that the whole point of a prototype?  build it, break it and build it better.

you could also look at other frames and companies and i'm sure lots of people have snapped them as well??

Title: Re: new whip.....
Post by: DJ on December 30, 2008, 05:18 PM
I don't doubt what anyone's heard but I'll take that Webb, meacher, Mahoney & Remo (complete with bulldog tattoo) have all been riding them for a while now & the only 1 that broke was a prototype that Webb had but, this did involve him literally beating it repeatedly into a brick wall to see if he could actually do it!!
Webb's frame is his own signature model & the other guys all run stock frames....

Agreed, there is always a "wary-ness" about something new or different but I think they're alright....

Honestly Dan... it gets too much sometimes!!  :LolLolLolLol:

I think the frames are ok IMO... for what THATS worth, if 14 stone remo & meacher (thats not a combined weight...) can send one around the 10ft mark then I reckon they're alright...

yeah at least you got an honest answer, when i asked if he was on Uk cos i saw him on a WTP i got basically called a liar.
yes, Webby was riding a WTP, gold coloured, with some UK stickers on, nowt new there, loads of riders did that back in the day riding a bike they liked with current sponsors stickers on, however now he is riding a UK as I saw him on one at Corby a while back.

Nice ride DJ, when you hitting Corby next we'll ride some vert......

And for the record my frame is not strengthened or different in any way at all, its a regular production model Evoloution, I've not had no problems at all and its taken some shit, so def no weaker than any other frame i've ridden, I love it.

Cheers

Paul

Mine rides nice too, and I tend to give my frames a hard time  ::)

Bottom line is that if you don`t think it`ll be strong enough then don`t buy one, but don`t constantly slag them off just because you ride something different  :police:

Post by: DJ on January 02, 2009, 06:12 PM
Meech, I was planning on getting to Corby over the holidays BUT I started off putting 1 unit & a bit of worktop in the kitchen & somehow 4 days later we now have ALL new units & worktops, sink, taps etc etc....! So, no time left Im afraid, need to spend some time with the kids before work claims me back on Monday however, I am going to make an effort to come up asap with Remo....

With regards to the bike/frame: they are shite, complete garb. I've just snapped mine by doing a trackstand! Mark Webb has never rode one & Remo said they are terrible.  :yahoo_silent:

I guarantee you that since this thread started, that bike has not been out of Deej's house.  In fact Deej, has it even been out of the box yet???   :LolLolLolLol:     :LolLolLolLol:   :LolLolLolLol:
