As many on here run front brakes just wondered who your favourite riders are that are good with there front brakes for me there are three that stand out.
In no particular order.
Rob Ridge.
Dave Osato.
Rick Molinterno.
And to be fair for the era Andy Ruffell, to come up with the ruff hops when he did deserves respect.
If anyone has any good video clips please post em up.
-
same as your list dude robs my hero
-
Dave Freimuth
Mike O'Connell
Rob Ridge of course :daumenhoch:
I'd have to throw a bit of Tobias Wicke in there too :)
-
all the aforementioned, still keep being tempted to run one myself. sooo much to do and looks very sweeet if done properly

Not sure maybe he used to look for riders that were good with there front brake, I guess he related to it being so good with one himself.
-
that alex geezer is quite good with a front brake, subversion does rule tho
-
they both need standards then
-
ROb Ridge
Geoff Cain
Doug Cain
Alex Leech
James Moon
James Hitchcox
Ross Hayward
Derren Bailey
to name but a few of my favourite british front brakers!

Do you mean Anthony Pill?
If so, seconded :daumenhoch:
-
i am indeed a retard :)
-
Lol.....
He's a good lad, Pill. Known him for years :)
Stayed at a B&B one time with him, and he refused to sleep in any of the ground floor rooms because he'd have to have a window open and "someone might reach in and grab me" :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
pmsl :)
rode with him at corby........wow!!
-
Yeah, he's always been a ruler.
I do find it hard to resist the temptation to push him over when he doing one of those silly long toothpicks though...... ;D
-
lol :)
-
couple more for the list.
luc-e
krt schmidt
chad degroot
honestly this is a front brake list not a standard list!
bobby fisher
dave mirra (watch props 20 at woodward)
tobias wicke
and probably my all time favourite with the tech of moliterno and the style of joe rich: jim reinstra
-
DMC -not many ride vert now with 2 brakes ,4 pegs etc
-
thanks philbert i was screamin krt schmidt from the start of this thread. has anyone said paul osicka?
-
has anyone said paul osicka?
yeah harris did on page 1
-
:daumenhoch: harris.
-
Moliterno, DMC, Osato, Wicke and Miron.
DMC popping out and spinning about on the deck to fakie drop-in is still amazing and I've no idea why more people don't do it.
Nyquist runs front brakes but aside from the odd nosepick, I've never seen him do much with em. I read he does a lot of ground tricks too, but not for the cameras.....
-
Nyquist runs a front brake for 360 suicide no handers, only way to get the front down
-
Ah... that explains it....
Wouldn't it be cool to have an all-rounder competition again ? Who'd win that one? For Dew tour events I reckon McCann but throw in flatland and all the old-schoolers would be back in vogue... Mind you DMC says he doesn't do as much flat now cos his wrists hurt.

I'm a bit confused here, does he dab the front brake before taking his hands off to prevent the front wheel from spinning?
-
Yep!
He also does it to help double barspins too apparently.
-
rob steele
Dave
-
Aww.... schucks..........
I'd only be part of this list if I was there to pump their tyres up though... :(
-
atkins is fooking rad with a front brake....on my fooking bike too :) :)

Tobias Wicke nosepicking Senad Grosic front wheel at a demo in Italy I think....
Senad halfway thru bars to nosepick at the same demo. Senad has a lot of tech tricks in his bag...

The one time King of Kingsworthy, Antoinette Pill just taking the pish with the toothpick
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/x260/djbmxmc/MoC.jpg)
Mike "The Moose" O'Connell tweaking it true Standard style a while back at Southwater (fcuk it was cold that day!)
Somewhere I have some real good front brake pics of Nyquist, he rules with the fronty just not worth using it in events coz it doesnt gain the riders nothing....
other good front braker's are Germany's Mark Konig & UK's Ant Pearson...
Search for "F..B.R" OR "Front Brake Revolution" footage, they did one at Rob Ridges place & 1 at Molinterno's gaff, amazing riding!
-
His Royal Ridgeness..... (that sounds like a porn star huh? lol!) enjoy.

-
is it just me or do any of you brake runners ever back your springs off /right off when your not using your bikes for a while.
i have been doing this for years over winter or if im using another bike for a while .
-
I've never bothered. Never really thought about it as it happens... That said, I've barely got any tension on my springs anyway - just enough for them to work properly :)
-
must be me then rob done it for years im strange i guess
-
It's the engineer in you bud. I'd bet if you ever had motocross bikes you left them in the garage with the wheels off the ground too eh? ;)
And you're strange, obviously.......

what about brian vowell. top rider and sure he invented the 360 whip too. responsible for all the hang 5 re-entry into ramps etc...
-
wasnt osato the first guy to do a 360 tailwhip?
-
i was sure it was brian. it was on dirt many, many, many years ago. unless anyone knows otherwise?
