Could someone please explainn gear ratio to me? dont know what 16t freewhelel 42 chainrnring v 18t freeewheel 39 chainring means whats the differance/advantage of one other the other? whats the best ratio?

try this on the bmxultra site the higher the number the harder it is to pedal 44/16 is the average bmx gearing

Front cog Teeth no. divided by the rear cog Teeth no. multiply by the wheel size (so a good equation for any wheel size :daumenhoch:) I.E 44/16x20 =55 this is the number you aim for generally. Less is easier more is harder. Baddabing

Depends on your style of riding, track you are racing, conditions etc....i still ride with a 46/16 and love it, suits me ;)

Talking os race bike. so does 46/16 give good top end of good acceleration(wifes spelling)?

46/16 is for top end, you need powerful legs to get going, great for long tracks...

I tried 47/16 at Bradford last summer!!
And I've tried 44/16 too!!
