Title: Skyway Hub Size

I cant quite figure this out and need a bit of advice.

I have a pair of Green Skyways on my recently purchased Streetbeat (thanks very much Pickle, love it) and there is a significant gap between the drop outs and the hub on both sides of the rear wheel.  I have had to put 2 washers (approx 4mm) on the LHS of the hub and 4 washers (approx 8mm) to the RHS (Gear side).  The front wheel was also a little small in the hub region and I had to tighten the bolts up real tight to close the gap; closing the gap between the hub and the forks in at the same time.  Seemed weird having to do this?

1/  Is this normal?  (It was the same when the wheels were on my Falcon, but when I put a pair of Skyways (different wheels from the ones I'm talking about here) on my Grifter or Burner they didnt need spacers)

2/  Are there any spacers that would be better than the washers I am currently using (I hate using washers, just seems wrong and a bit cheap!).  I have been told there are cone spacers that would be better to use but due to the odd thread Skyway used they are difficult to find.  If these cone spacers are the norm can anyone tell me where I can get them from, cos I haven't seen them anywhere?

3/  Are the wheels just an odd size?

Also the axels protude approx 12mm beyond the nut at the front on either side and 8mm on the rear.  This looks a bit weird?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

the front wheel has a rear axle mate,it should be slotted to fit in the fork dropouts and they are shorter .was it hard to get the wheel in the dropouts ,or have they been cut out to fit 'the rear looks ok to me,you could put axle pegs on to cover them up

Ahhh Ok.

The front axle does have two flat sides and they were easy to fit.

Fitting pegs is a good idea.
