Walking the kids to school last year i saw a lad of about 17 smash face first into the back of a transit that had stopped hard but he couldn't cos he was brakeless. His face was a mess teeth and clarett everywhere. It was all i could do to stop myself shouting 'that'll teach you for riding brakeless you twat'.

Good = more riders getting back into the sport and getting their kids into it as well

Bad = 1.  the look of some new school bikes and set-up; and 2.  new school riders who have no interest in the history of BMX (you need to know where the sport has come from if you want to influence where it's going).

Bad = brakeless (as said already)  :idiot2:   kids constantly asking me 1. can i do a backflip? 2. can i do a tailwhip? 3. well what can you do then?  :LolLolLolLol:   4. how much did that cost?

Good = Great vibe from all i've had the pleasure of meeting,  great support from RAD fookers on here (without it i would've given up by now) seeing guys who could hardly roll in a mini ramp when i first met them, to now getting air out of the Vert ramps!   :4_17_5:    this place  :4_17_5:

Same as it always was....

Good - riding

Bad - getting hurt

Everything else comes and goes  :)
Title: Re: whats good and bad today
Post by: Voodoocars on January 23, 2009, 08:18 PM
Good- getting excercise while riding instead of having to force yourself to go running (boring) or to the gym.
having a laff trying to do stuff on my bike that I clearly cant do
          Getting time away from missus/work
          Having a hobby

Bad - Having to travel to a park thats constantly in bits (creation ffs)
Corby- am I the only one that thinks its tripe? (apart from the vert)
Naff weather so I cant ride at other parks outdoor more often.

I'm not a Corby fan either.  Too many collision lines, too much wasted space, missed opportunites in the cafe and leisure area.
I could go on, but I'd best not - I'm in a crappy mood tonight!!!

All that said, it's the best overall facility we have, so we had better treasure it I suppose.  I'll be having regular vert sessions there later this year.

Post by: markatkins on January 23, 2009, 08:59 PM
People take Corby for granted.I ride there all the time and for a while wanted to try other places.......I tried and still found corby the best by far.Yeah the set ups not the best when busy but most of the time its all good and theres plenty of stuff to ride.
Only other place in the midlands i think is creation which when i went was flooded and full of kids and i dont recall seeing much to ride?Corby is far from tripe,i wish i had it to ride in my day.
Title: Re: whats good and bad today
Post by: jedi on January 23, 2009, 09:13 PM
corby is hands down better laid out than creation!

good: good

bad: good

 ;)
Title: Re: whats good and bad today
Post by: TwoBobRob on January 23, 2009, 09:35 PM
There is no comparison between corby and creation.  Creation is dead unless something is done this year, whereas corby hopefully will carry on to go onto great things.  Like I say, we should treasure it   ;)

Poor choice of words.....  I just mean I'll be riding there more regularly.  Unless they want to employ me to run the place  ;)

and you'd get somewhere free to live, with a skatepark in your back garden. Just a shame its in Corby really. If it was by the seaside they'd only need pay £15K

not as a rider these days but as a dad who takes my boy and his mates everywhere and i have a lot of

experiance of what's the best park,  out door or indoor,   for our crew,  corby indoor hands down,

that park is the bollocks :daumenhoch:  outdoor, only one park  rom skatepark but coming close,  redditch

outdoor park,  that place is amazing :)
Title: Re: whats good and bad today

Just my opinion that I dont like corby very much.I go there from time to time but I find it hard work.Depends what you get used to.For me, a park that has very few 1/4s is not much use 'cause I cant do tech stuff like tire taps etc.I'm a fan of Redditch but being outdoor and wood its dependant on weather. Its been resurfaced by the way. I keep promising myself that I'm going to get to other places but never get round to it- rom (after a 25 yr gap),rampworx. I went to bay 66 last year.It was ok but I'm not in a hurry to go back.
