after what seems like months of trying to get the right parts i wanted at the right price my 83 californian is as good as finished.... parts are.... nos, dia compe 880 calipers, acs clamp, footjaw pedals(soon to be swapped for a gold pair) ,handle bars (landar i believe),fluted seat post ,aero seat, cables early 80,s irc tyres, sugino 44t chainwheel and spider... used but minty parts inc, suntour stem, mongoose grips, mongoose b/b ,goose pads, rechromed goose crank, goose headset, weinmann wheels with new suntour hubs stainless spokes, 8/10 survivor frame and forks, shimano sx levers, enjoyable build but shine sideing the wheels was a time consuming job to get them right 5 hrs per wheel, thanks to all that helped with parts along the way (http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/jj262/lambrettalee/mongoose005.jpg)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/jj262/lambrettalee/mongoose006.jpg)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/jj262/lambrettalee/mongoose001.jpg)

started off with a very fine grit disc on a dremel to take out any scores and the untouched gold annodiosing, then did the rest by hand with wet and dry , from a medium down to a very fine, did about an hour at a time as its boring as hell and kills your fingers, keeping the paper wet was the key to a good finish...

Yep have to agree very nice build mate :daumenhoch:

Colour combo is sweet! I'm lovin the combo pick up on the spider/chainring, shinysides, brake levers.
Shimano levers? Do they come in 2 colours or did you put them together yourself?
Great stuff.

Mmmm. What is the news on MK'09 then fellas - we should have a burn round the track together shouldn't we >:D
Lee, that looks great mate. Gotta agree with Danny that the Cali is an icon of BMX from BITD as it was actually affordable. When I had my '83 on christmas day it was THE best present I'd ever had and definitely got the most use of any present I've had even to this day. I went everywhere on the damn thing for a couple of years and would give my left bollock for it back...... :'(
Now the worry is you'll stray onto a Supergoose and then a Pro-class and show mine up mate - that bike is stunning :daumenhoch:

Oh yes. A lovely build. 8/10 for the chrome on the f&f ? Looks tip top to me. Nice, really nice, but then I'm a sucker for a well built goose.
Well done. :daumenhoch:
-
yeah the chrome isnt perfect but it is more than acceptable, i prefer to keep things original if at all possible, there is some minor "dotting" in places but nothing major..
-
A very nice Cali,
I'm working on a Cali mysely, if it turns out to be anywhere close to this I'll be a happy man.
-
Absolutely lovely - cracking job.
