i know, I probably look like a retard, well more than usual, but what is switch footed?
-
lmao ya retard
its were they cross there legs over
so left foot is on the right pedal
or could be another word for goofy lol
-
cheers dude
ah like doing a trick, they put the right foot over on the left ledal and the left foot is off?
got it, i think.
and it's "their" not "there" lmao retard. lol.
-
shut it lol and no they put the wrong feet on both sides left on right and right on left
-

not how I know it, switch footed to me is I normally take off with my left foot forward, if I took off with my right foot forward that's switch footed. Bloody hard, try bunny hopping with your feet the wrong way.
Watch Mike Aitken, he changes his pedals all the time depending on what trick he's doing

i can roll in with either foot forward in either direction, ie if i'm rolling in clockwise i usually have my left forward but can do the right foot forward.
-
Switchfoot is left foot right pedal, right foot left pedal and low frames have little to do with achieving said stance :daumenhoch:
-
cheers, it sounds impossible, but i watched that trick Rhys suggested and it's all clear now.
thanks.
i'll never do it. :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

I would have said switch footed was like that, correct foot on the correct pedal but the oppiste foot forward to you usually have it.
I know people do tricks with the wrong foot on the wrong pedal, and I dont have a suggestion to what that is called.
-
Switch foot is left foot on right pedal right foot on left pedal. Right foot forward and rotate left to right or vice versa is goofy footed!
See airs by Bill Stupps, Joe Stupps, Eric Steele, Tod Anderson etc. etc. for goofy footed.
Daz. :daumenhoch:
-
Interesting i would go with what diggler and lazychubs say but for me this stems from way back in the very early 80's when we were doing the trick switcharounds, when you came out of the move and changed your hands back to regular position on the bars this left you switch footed,i have learn't over the years that certain moves were known by different names dependent on what part of the country you were located so perhaps this is one of them.
-
A bit like...Barm cakes/Bread cakes/Tea cakes/bread roll/bap/stottie/muffin.....Or Buttie if it has chips in :2funny:

thats made me hungry i'm off to gretna for a tatty scone. ;D
-
Right foot forward and rotate left to right or vice versa is goofy footed!
But that's if you naturally ride like that, that would mean when I do an opposite air I'm goofy, and that ain't right

Now you're just being pedantic :LolLolLolLol:
Daz.
-
and i thought the answer would be straight forward. :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
so I'll accept it as being the right foot on the left pedal and the left foot on the right pedal.
it seems bonkers to me, but i seen that vid and the kid's defo doing that.
-
dudes, you all missed the early 00s didn't you??
switch is wrong foot forward to normal. it stems from early 90s skating when switchstance came in. and that did not mean twirling your legs like a pretzel
feet on wrong pedals is (a) wrong (b) pointless circus (c) CROSS-FOOTED
sorry for shouting. going for a coffee..
-
so if i roll in to a ramp clockwise with my right foot forward that's switch footed?
crikey, i thought it would be simple...
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
Oh. My. God. It IS simple, I can't believe it got this far!!!
I'm glad u posted Chris, I was just about to but got a call from Rover Remo!
Cross footed - bulge, cross footed tailwhip nosepick, koc 93!
Love you Christopher
I am my own boss & will be in colonge anyway.... Even if I had a proper job with a boss & stuff I'd still be there!
-
yep, and if you turn the wrong way to normal you're rising opposite..
so you can play the 180 game
regular
regular opposite
switch
switch opposite
THEN you have to do the relevant roll-out, no indian givers (apparently)
i can do the 180s. but i always indian give whatever the weather!
-
and the wrong foot on the wrong pedal is cross footed?
cool.
thanks for clearing that up. :daumenhoch:
-
i guess you can ride cross-footed normal AND switch stance depending on what pedal you have forward....
but what is what ?????????????? right foot forward normally so regular cross stance would be left foot on right pedal forward
ohhhh man i am trying to avoid work...
;D
-
i would have thought that was quite straight forward.
-
Switch footed is the same as goofy!!
From the US like a Switch hitter (baseball)
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footedness#Regular_and_switch
-
ah but if you ride switch and spin opposite you appear regular footed, so not always goofy..
pedantic semantics rule!
-
ah but if you ride switch and spin opposite you appear regular footed, so not always goofy..
pedantic semantics rule!
After reading the Wiki........
Switch is using whatever foot forward that you dont normally use!!
To make the trick harder by using your weaker stance!! :daumenhoch:

yep :daumenhoch:
and according to christhejob and evamedia and others.
I'll go with that.
:daumenhoch:
-
Thank fook for that!! :)
Next Question......................
-
Thank fook for that!! :)
Next Question......................
right....now, when you are switch footed.... :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
Left foot forward and rotate right to left or vice versa has been called goofy footed since 1979 so you can all fook off! :LolLolLolLol:
Who fooking cares anyway - just ride!!

:
Ok off to try some Decades.............or is it Vertical Boomerang. or well its all bicycle motocross......hang on motorcross? hehe
-
since 1979
People rarely rode both ways in 1979
-
i would have thought that was quite straight forward.
Exactly Goags, me too!! :LolLolLolLol:
-
since 1979

No no no, that's not what I meant!
Some riders went right to left and some riders went left to right in every thing they did, that's what I meant. Not that they went both ways. For example, most people who would ride right foot forward would table to their right too. So if they kicked it the other way then they would be dorky footed. Get what I mean? Look at Bill Stupps and Andy Irwin, they air'd right to left but had their left foot forward where as the majority of right to left riders would have their right foot forward. But on the other hand, Eric Steele for example ,would ride left to right but have their right forward. Eric, did however, so I'm told, swap to having his left foot forward at some point during the 80's.
No more please as I've just cracked open my second bottle of red :D
Daz.
-
regular
opposite
switch
switch opposite
First, spot on Chris for clearing that one up. And even better calling Cross footed a circus trick!
Second, there was a classic Vid Clip of Butcher riding. He was riding street, doing feble grinds, smith grinds, normal stuff. Then, when you looked a bit harder he was doing them all on both sides (4 pegs). Then you looked harder still, he was doing a half turn of the cranks between grinds, making some of them HIS normal stance, some of them SWITCH Footed.
It was really cool, and never did he tie his laces together, put on a blind fold, juggle, fit an off center wheel, change his name to Coco, or swap his feet to the other side of the bike!
-
Goofy!
-
I didnt say what foot was forward, just that it was switched from HIS regular stance.
Even Goofy riders can do stuff switch footed. Just give a little half crank ;)

Erm...I think I understand. Or could that be the wine. :LolLolLolLol:
Either way, have a good weekend whether switch, goofy or normal, whatever that is!

if you don't understand any of this, maybe you should have stuck to bmx throughout the 90's, or maybe just piss off back to looking at bikes on stands in a field.

Cos then you'd be cool as Fook
-
All of this is much easier to explain face to face, when standing on a bike. I know people who have been riding forever and still stuggle to get their head round it (but they are a bit thick :crazy2:).
Photos might help, but its still alot to do with your natural way of riding, which doesnt come across in a photo. Could be a nice web clip ..... Chris? you are the teacher
-
This pic baffled me its obviously a recent pic of fiola but i did find myself looking at some old pics to see which way he airs etc as i knew he was never goofy.

it's an opposite (for him) hip, what's baffling?
-
Yep, Fiola went left to right so that's an opposite for him!

Mebbies bad choice of words on my behalf, i was surprised to see fiola doing an opposite table as its a pretty good one to be fair, knees tucked etc.

You're right, it did sound a bit off, wasn't meant to be, what I meant to say was, would we be cool as fook if we had ridden in the 90's? . Mr Gogo seems to think people are lesser humans if they had a break from riding and even lesser if they collect old bikes.
Shame really cos its all bmx
-
Airing switch is pretty easy to explain.
Watch Mike Miller do a lookback....most people do lookbacks opposite, Miller does 'em regular way with his feet the other way round so he looks like a goof for a few seconds. That is switch.
It gets confusing to me when people air regular footed and grind goofy (i.e. Aaron Ross).

Thats a totally different thread.... ;D

And Jamie Bestwick. He does all his airs regular footed, but then does his lip tricks turning the other way (without changing his feet) so they are goofy. Although now Im sure Jamie can air and grind just as well both ways now!
-
im a goofy rider. makes for easy rocket manuals as your foot is ack right next to the peg
i ride anti clockwise with my right foot back but when i spin or x my bars i go clockwise
makes it easy as your first knee is always back
looks all fcuked up though :crazy2:
-
goofy riding is seriously the worst thing in bmx, apart from white rims.

I sort of do that, ride goofy on ariels, but peg stall, grind the other side with out changing feet so they look regular :crazy2:
