Title: Spoke tension
Post by: Bushwacked on February 05, 2009, 07:49 PM
I've noticed that some of the spokes on my wheel are not as tight as the others.

I'm used to MTB wheels but with the shorter spokes and heavier duty rims of BMX wheels not sure how much impact having extra or not enough tension will have on BMX wheels.

If I leave it as it is will it go out of true / ding / taco more easily?

If I tighten up the ones which are loose will it go out of true?

Sorry for the noobie question but not an easy one to find out anywhere else.

Start at the valve and just nip up each spoke 'til theyre all basically the same tension- you can feel it with the spoke spanner. Then true up the wheel if you need to.Easy.
