in no rush to finish this off, but got it done in the end in dribs and drabs, the bike itself is good enough for BOTM comps, but the quality of the pickies wouldnt, as the quality of the pictures have as much to play to win, as the bike itself....

no pedals i know again, but they cause more problems than they are worth, when they snag on the frame of another bike....
hope you like.... sam
been playing around with the camera for better pictures, see if these are any brighter....

I have never liked Redlines, but that has changed my mind. What an absolute beauty Sam. :4_17_5:
-
Lovely build that mate... I've always been a Redline fan since back in the day and still own a couple of MX II's myself (one frameset is NOS luckily enough).
.... just a minor point for ya though - whoever produced your decal set for ya has made an error.
On the main downtube decal it should say MX II and not MX11 (eleven)
sorry to be picky

I've got a set of those stickers I haven't fitted yet, just looked and they are the same ! I didn't notice as I was so pleased to have them, do you judge resto competitions by any chance ? ;)

Nah mate.. I'm no judge... just a fussy bugger I guess - tho bein a graphic designer all my life has turned me into a perfectionist I guess!!
-
I was going to say how much I like the bike but the sticker issues put me off ;)
3 of us had Redlines, I had a white one (it was slightly marked so I got it cheaper), friend Mike had a white one and another friend had a red one just like yours. His has gold brakes and yellow z rims.
My Brother had my one when I got the Ripper now I have it back. It needs some better bars, and brakes on it to make it look more era correct. I will have to get busy.
-
dont let the decals put you off, the decal man has promised to put this right, as he nor i noticed it.... ;)

He very kindly offered to send me some corrected ones as well, so hopefully I will pull my finger out and get sticking them on.
I need to find some non v bar type handlebars like the ones you have and strip the manky chrome plating off the MX1000 calipers it had on it. I rebuilt the wheels and had the frame powdercoated white years ago but have never got round to sorting it out properly.
-
some non v type bars? These ARE redline v bars.... ;)
-
Wow, that is a very clean build, likin' it mate :daumenhoch: MX-IIs really capture the spirit of early days British BMX and that one looks spot on. Great choice of parts.
Would be nice to see some pics of it outside, preferably without any clutter/hedges/plant pots in the background as like you say it's real BOTY material

thats nice sam, is it fast ?

Sorry I didn't explain. It's got some copy CW's on it at the moment but they look far too big. I can't remember what make were fitted before but they were slightly bigger than yours with a staight brace on them.
I wish I had gone for some other colour now as white is a bit plain.
-
Like all your other builds* Sam, :smitten: :4_17_5:
* Excluding your Scorpion, where clearly mine is better :P
-
Nice one :daumenhoch: good parts, i love the colour :4_17_5:

Errrrm! a bit more red.... ;D
-
Yep I agree.. the zeds make it look well trick now!! :4_17_5:
-
think they are more bmx'y, if you know what i mean, chrome rims look a bit ordinary on a painted frame..... ;)
-
I like that bike a lot. I have always like Redlines, but never had one.
Like someone said, its a proper old school bike.
I like the colour too.
I do have to say that I prefer the chrome rims, it looks faster !!
And I think it would look better with the seat lowered a touch, sorry for being picky.

They're done, hopefully I'll see you at the weekend Sam.

I like the new wheels, I've got black z rims on my one.
Just like to thank Del for sorting out the decals. I hadn't even got round to asking him about them and he had sent a PM.
If Redline had carried on with the MX designation then we would probably be on about 11 now !
