I remember a Jamie Glover from Malvern that used to race.
Hillbillies and rebels were my local tracks. I used to go down to Hillbillies every night.
-
hi zippy whats your name i might know you what a shame about the tracks it should never happen
we need these tracks for the kids today or it will be harder to produce the next dale homes
-
My name is Simon Barnes, I went to Dyson's and Hanley Castle, although I always seemed to go out with girls from the Chase.
Hillbillies was a great track, loved the quarterpipe and the racing there. I had an Aero Pro Team Burner back in the day, then had a Chrome Aero Pro when I snapped the team issue frame.
-
seem to remember the name simon
i used to ride a hutch pro star with aerolite cranks /mag hubs /and hutch pedals
wish i still had this bike £££££££££££££££££££ top money
but i needed some fags and beer so i sold it i think £70
what a tit i was :uglystupid2:
-
I remember it was the talk of the town that you got a pro star. Everyone was well jelous but I think they may have all taken the piss a bit as well.
I noticed that Keith Jones had just joined. Didn't his dad run Rebels after a dissagreement with the people that ran Hillbillies. I also think he had a patterson if I remember rightly.
-
takin this piss outa my hutch thats not right LOL
and yeh kieths dad bob went to rebel i think because of the john ieles family (think i spelt that wrong)
rebel force was a better track anyway
back to the piss take why????????? LOL
-
YOU HAD A PRO STAR ;D ;D ;D
everyone wanted a prostar.
John Ieles was a cock. I sold him my GT World Tour and he never paid for it so I had to go back round and get it back the hard way.
I liked Rebels track I've got some pictures of me riding it as a kid but haven't got a scanner to upload them with.
Hang on though I can take a picture of them and upload those.
-
Here are some pics, sorry about the quality, blame my mum.

great pics nice to see the track as it was the good old days ;D :'(
-
if you lokk closely you can see the old buildings
-
It's a shame they're all left to waste away. It seems that there is a lot of old tracks left like that nowadays.
-
idea,, lets all contact the local councils and demand the tracks back LOL
nice idea
jamie >:(
-
Hi Zippy do you remeber my old man from Dysons, he used to teach their
Peter Western, PE, then Physics, he was also head of the third year.
And yes their were pretty girls at the chase, lol,
I remeber when I was about 15, i was out drunk one night and was getting stuck into this girl, I took her home and my old man caught us back at the house, not too happy,
""Son if you are going to bring 14 year old girls back to the house, can you ,make sure I dont teach them please, its rather embarresing -- LOL
-
Wow I can remember all those old buildings around the track, and the long drive up to it. I used to race there every week in summer - Rebel's was definitely the best track, and because it was slightly out of the way you didn't get all the pikey kids down there. Warndon was a different matter altogether - that was anarchy, and like going on the most dangerous assault course of your life!
Happy days....still got my Rebel's trophy somewhere.
-
Could anyone with pics of the Malvern Rebels track, and any of Cocksmoor send them to me please. The address is: adrian@beinghunted.com
Thanks,
Adey.
-
Hey Jon, I remember your dad. He was head of the third year when I was there.
I've lost count of the girls I went out with at the chase, although dysons did have some nice girls too. I went out with a girl called Natelle Gillman who I remember thinking was quite a good looking girl.
My dad used to rent one of the units down next to the rebels track so I was down there quite a lot as well. I take it you didn't go to Dysons though.
-
I use to ride at the hillbillies track on north end lane all the time 1989 onwards, The club chairman was melvin hyles something like that at the time. I go past the track twice a week
and still look in from time to time, kids on those mini motos and quads us it now so theres no way you could put a new track there it be ruined in 2 minutes. I don't know how many of you live around the area but i live in worcester and theres nothing now for us bmx racers i have to travel to bristol or burnham to train. I've tried with the councils to get a track going but they have no money as usual. But there quite happy to build skateparks. Some of my best times were spend on that track its a shame there gone
Jai
-
I used to live on Battenhall Rise, and still have friends in Barbourne. Haven't been back for over a year now, good place for a drink or three!
I went out with a bird called Coral Rowberry from Malvern - briefly, and had quite a to-do with her friend called Sam I think.....I leave it there!
-
jai do you now keith jones ?ilive in ledbury
adey i went out with coral long time ago funny LOL

My dad thought it best I went to the chase as he taught a dysons, smooth move, would not have liked to have been at school where the old man was a teacher, he found out about enough of the trouble i got into without me being at the same school, pleanty he did not find out about as i was at the chase lol !!!

I think i stopped racing in 1987, Melvin Hiles son, John Hiles was in my age group when i used to race, I am pleased to say I used to smoke him on the track every time we raced, in fact i dont think he ever beat me in 2 or 3 years of racing, I heard he went on to do very well in later years, - but I am not sure many people were racing in those dark times !
-
I think alot of blokes did Glov! She contacted me through Friendsreunited a few years ago - luckily I was just about to get married otherwise I may have been tempted for seconds. She still looks pretty hot that's fo schizzle!
Her mate was good value too - I think her name was Sam, anyway she was quite posh, and her Dad worked abroad - which was good for me!!
Happy Days.
Adey.

Hmmmmm so basically you and Jamie have all but slept together, nice !!! Who went first -LOL
-
Yep i still see keith on the odd occassion around worcester.
John Hiles carried on racing till 1999 i think, he only raced in the BBMXA when bmx racing split up, i raced BBMXA for a couple of years but then was told to race EBA as the competition was faster. Hiles like the easy life and titles, he was quite good in the end on his cruiser by 20" forget it. He quite to spend more time restoring VW Beetles something
like that.
I carried on racing but joined wordsley when they had there new track in that park, still looking forward to racing this year but don't know wheather to race 20" or cruiser
at the moment race for SE Racing via Shiners i ride a baby blue floval flyer and the 2006 baby blue team Ripper.
-
jai nice to hear youve got a good ride for this season iam going to give it one last go on 24"
hopefully will see you at some races

jamie
-
I'm doing my first ever Regional on my new cruiser this weekend at Dagenham. Should be a laugh. I'll probably be dead last though as I'm mega unfit.
Only got back into the racing last year at Hersden in Kent, so I'm begining to find my feet a bit more.
-
I was very young Mr Western - 14 or 15. You've made me feel slightly queasy..thanks!
-
adey thats great get out there and do it as i said my last go on 24"
hope to see you around to
give me a shout and we will hock up for a race meet
jamie
-
Will do kid. Not many tracks in the Sussex area, so keep me posted of anything that won't take me hours to drive to!
When you got a sec, could you email those Rebel's pics please. I'd love to show them to my old man - he used to drive me there every week - he even made a trailer to put my bike on!
Cheers,
Adey.

-
Amazingly, the image seams to facinate the nice girls, EXAMPLE - Met a girl at a concert 2 weeks ago, very striaght and sensible never high, she had never been down that road,(nothing wrong with that, but you know different life style etc) striaght group of friends etc, was out of my head, dont really remeber much about the night, ended up goling out with her last week, she starts telling me thaty she has never gone with any one who liked the high life / has lots of tats etc, after only one night out / back at hers, start getting the daily calls and houly text's -
Problem is the bunny boiler detecter statered going off, so had to quickly kick that one in to touch, oops another broken heart :LolLolLolLol:
LOL LOL !!
On the other hand, tatood / pierced girls are often far more game ;) ;)
-
You're a filthy man Mr Western....can't wait till we have our weekend on the darkside!
-
Whenever you are ready Ady - Just need to check it does not clash with any race meetings, would not want our night of insane debauchery to effect my title chances on this years race season

Excellent threat this! I raced at Rebel Force in 84 to 86. God I remember that old drive down to it - you had to slalom the potholes or your car would fall apart. Wasn't it built on an old WW2 army base or something? I went to the opening race there - who else was at that? I was neck and neck for the holeshot in the final, went to jump the doubles, clipped my front wheel on the second one and nearly made a neat division in my scrotum! It was such a good track even though it wasn't like anything else around.
Remember the Mounsey brothers anyone? And Keith Jones - his dad moved away from Malvern some time in the late 80s to Holt Heath but he'd still drop in and see me and my brother sometimes as we used to race there. just to see how we were doing. Top bloke. There was a guy called Graham Sweet in my age group, last seen busking in Worcester a mate of mine told me!
-
Er I meant thread not threat.. :-X
-
HI SE JAMIE GLOVER HERE YEH. WAS ON OLD WW2 SITE AND KEITH,S DAD DID MOVE AWAY. BUT IVE BEEN RACING WITH KEITH TODAY OVER AT MANSFIELD AND HIS DAD IS FINE
SHAME ABOUT THE OLD TRACKS :'(
JAMIE
-
Blimey small world! Glad I had a Uni on over those doubles rather than a Kashi Aero (as is my daughter). Remember the trebles at Rebel Force with the low landing? That was a great track. Massive long first straight too. I remember the old gate when they glued sandpaper to it to give the front tyres more grip. Such a wierd location but a really good club.
-
I can remember many a balmy evening in the summer of 85, racing around that track time, and time again. I would probably have to stop halfway round now! Yes the drive-up was certainly pot hole strewn, my bike trailer used to bounce up and down - I used to peer out of the back window just to make sure it didn't fall off!
Great days, I may take my MRD back up to Worcester next time I go, and maybe chase some cows around the field where the track used to be.
Adey
-
Hi SE, I was at the opening race at Rebel Force as well. The Mounsey brothers were quick. I actually worked in the same company years later with Chris. He worked in Portsmouth then. Bizarrely enough I bought Graham Sweets Patterson from him last year. He bought it from a guy named Matthew Dawson. I've got a pic of it here.
-
That brings back a few more memories! What was it about Malvern and Pattersons? Like the seatpost too. Who was the kid who had the really classy black PK? I think he raced 13x in 1985.
The funniest race I remember there was a club meeting final, not sure which year. It was when I gave up on open bearing BBs and switched to sealed - I had bashed some open bearing rings in in a right strop and bent them to fxxx. Over the trebles they gave out and the cranks went all sloppy, so I picked up the bike carried it and ran like fxxx. Overtook some poor sod and came in 7th! Best race ever. I was a lanky git so I reckon I would have run way more races if I had just carried it rather than trying to ride.
-
Mate I'm sure I still have some of that track in my shins. I fell off my MRD so many times on those whoops it wasn't funny (obviously it was!).
-
I remember a guy with an mrd who faceplanted badly on the quarter pipe at hillbillies. Wasn't you was it.
-
If it was the chrome MRD of my two: http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=6538.0 then yes twas me! Saying that I don't think there's many places I didn't fall off. Got the knees of a 92 year-old woman now!!
-
I only knew one guy that had an MRD and he always wore an open face helmet. He used to hang around with a guy that always went on about Brian Blyther as well. Funny the things you remember isn't it.
-
Weren't me fella. I did fall off there though. An MRD Pro ain't made for freestyle that's fo schizzle!
-
Hi Jamie, thought I would say hi, shame about the state of the tracks now, I have called into Wordsley, Cocksmoors and Redditch recently and its a similar situation. I understand that Redditch is up for a rebuild!!!
Still got my patterson, just had it rechromed and buliding it back up to 80`s standard.
Darren Willcox
-
Hi Darren, I remember you and your Patterson. You weren't half bad as I remember. Good to see you back.
