Title: Crash helmet? Too right...
Post by: Voodoocars on February 22, 2009, 04:19 PM
Got my jeans caught round the crank arm today and couldnt get foot away to balance and fell head first into the midi at Redditch . Smacked my head real hard at the bottom and went dizzy.Still feel petty ropey now. Two lessons- always wear a helmet and get some skinny girls jeans...

Seriosly though, if you dont wear a lid- you are a sap.

Who doesnt wear one and why?

Glad to hear you are okay Ian, if you are still a bit ropey get yourself down A&E for a check out, can't be too careful with a bash on the head.

as for lids i think there was an extensive thread about this, I always wear one, but some don't, personal choice, I think parks that have a "lids must be worn" policy are pretty good, but it's each to their own really.

Get yourself looked at bud.

Lids have been discussed at length a few times.  I'm in the minority as I don't believe in the pisspot skatelids as proper protection for bmx slams. I wear a lid religously when I ride vert, (a Bell Moto7) but for everything else I don't wear one.  Again I'm in a minority these days.

If a park is helmet compulsory then I'm forced to wear my fullface, and I crash my heart out all day long.....  or pussy out, which is what I've been doing since getting back on my bike after surgery   :-[

It wasnt even a 'bike' crash - I just fell. Just shows how easy it can happen. I quite often turn up somewhere and roll around with no pads or helmet on.Not anymore. A few months ago I got to redditch , went off padless and ended up arse over tit with a load of skin missing off the back of my leg. I blame the jeans. I thought bell bottom 70's style was ok...

That's what I refer to as an accident rather than a slam.  I book them down as a roll of the dice, law of averages etc.

Like Joe says - If you start feeling funny get down A&E or down your local and do some stand up comedy!!

I always wear pads and helmet - although ever since wearing pads I've fallen off less but more than worth being safe and being able to walk away and ride another day!
