Nice, but the gusset doesn't have the holes cut out or anything embossed on it, from the looks of it? Also looks quite big and not as neat as the one I have here. may have had a repair done at some point? ??? Have a check. Otherwise very nice mate :coolsmiley:

The original Mongoose Pro Class calipers weren't made by Dia Compe if my memory servers me right :-\ i think they were lee chi :-\ . It looks like they are DC but with after market repro Pro Class decals :daumenhoch:
Don't quote me though ::)

Hi mate. I have a chrome one here, all original. Has an embossed part on it. And others i've seen on ebay recently have the (| |) cut out of the gusset. Not seen many without to be honest.

cw bars are just copies ,there was loads out there bitd ,nice find anyway

The original mongoose 'pro class' calipers were defo not Dia Compe, they were Lee Chi as Snav said :daumenhoch:
The bars are CW copies, i had a set of the same make 'hsin lung' on my Ammaco Team Pro survivor so they obviously used that brand bar on a few of their bikes..
And finally...if you end up splitting it can i have dib dobs on the Renthal seatpost please :daumenhoch:
Cheers matey ;)

Right, been doing a bit more research on these gussets. I still think that your gusset looks a bit chunky and not as neat as these ones pictured here. The gussets on the ammacos were the 1st thing to go BITD and many had repairs on them done. Ammaco Pros/Freestyler's were released with a gusset with the two holes cut out. These always cracked there when ridden hard. Ammaco fixed the problem with embossing the gusset and curving the metal underneath, like the Haro Gen 1 gusset. The metal used on the 2nd gen gusset was also thicker and stopped this problem happening.

See this image above to see what I mean about the cracking gussets....
Here are the photos from our own Museum. Notice the cut outs/embossing in the gussets.

Lastly, Daz's (ammaco daz's) version is the only one i've seen like yours where the gusset is solid and that is unusual and could be original, but who knows...?

8) RESTORATION.... ITS THE WAY 4WARD... ;)
-
Could be mega rare then with solid gusset guess i will find out when i strip the frame with nitromoss
-
Im sure the plain solid gussets were a quick fix by Ammaco in response to all the cracked 'cut-out' gussets. An interim measure before the embossed gusset was developed.
Basically its a gen 1.5, midway between the more common cut out and embossed gussets. Makes sense why so few have surfaced, they wouldnt have been around for long.

me too and i missed it :'(

Dan can this be confirmed? Personally i've only seen about 3 or 4 frames like this in my time and most of the gussets all looked slightly different i.e. shape/welds etc.. nearly all of them looked like fix-up jobs.

Well some come in white, chrome and also a baby blue colour. Mainly chrome though. Never seen one in your colour to be honest, could have been resprayed? Is it bare metal underneath or showing some other type of colour?
