Is it only the right ( standard drive side) cup that has to sit flush with the frame or do both cups have to be screwed all the way in? can you leave any threads exposed?

Usually both are threaded pretty much all the way, the non drive side should have a lock ring that would take up most of any exposed thread. That of course depends on what width the bb shell is compared to the actual bb you are using. Any pics?

Got it off ebay, the bloke was from Wigan, it's the Akira with AD mounts. It still has the 10mm drops out too :daumenhoch:
