Hello
I might (fingers, arms, legs, toes and eyes crossed!) have the oportunity to pick up a brand new unused NOS PK Ripper from 1985 :smitten: which I am very very very excited about!
Can you guys help me with a list of parts should expect to find on it?
Any info would be much appreciated, as I want to make sure I'm buying something genuine?!?!?!?
Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben,
from what you are saying I presume its a complete bike you are getting?
Im not certain but didnt think SE did complete rippers back then, someone else might be able to confirm. Give SE-BMXER Jai a pm, sure he wont mind.
good luck :daumenhoch:

also if its 1985 is it a straight tail frame or looptail?
-
I haven't got all the details yet, I have asked for photos too which I will put up on here when/if they arrive?
It is described as a NOS Setup, so I imagine it is created of parts and I think it is a looptail.
Which would be more desirable, loop or straight?
Sorry for being so vague, will fill the gaps as soon as I can.

OK so it could be a NOS frameset built with NOS parts, if its 1985 it will have a serial number check for that. yes post some pics and get the parts spec.
both looptail and straightail would be desirable. :daumenhoch:

a common build could be
SE powerwing bars,
SE chrome seatpost,
kashimax aero seat
redline flight 401 cranks
ukai or araya rims
comp III tyres
DC MX1000 brakes
etc etc

I pretty sure they did complete rippers in 85, they were straight stay, integral seat clamp frames. I've got a test in bmxplus somewhere.

Brilliant info, keep it coming?!

i always assumed loopy rippers were the more desirable??? ???

Depends from where you stand...
Loopys are totally iconic, but the 85 ones are much rarer as this type of frame with the straight chainstays were only offered for one year.
And they don't come around too often NOS....

Pics taken from october 85 issue bmxplus.
Has a list of components too.

That would be a very cool find, it will be interesting to see which model it really is... SE did a complete loopy too... all SR parts.
