i've just bought some 2nd gen silver star in yellow nos unused are they the ones to have ?
-
IMO there is no best to have. Its what suits the build. I was into BMX when the 2nd gen tyres were around so thats what i remember.
Black and blue 2nd gen label comp 3's are the hardest to get. Reds and yellows come up on ebay more often.
If you want a bad boy set of tyres then comp 2's are the dogs.......if you can find them.

I posted this up in another thread a while ago after a similar question - found it on another site :

It's funny, bitd no-one paid any attention to what colour/type the labels were, we just put them on our bikes and rode them :daumenhoch:

The Green/Blue "2nd Generation Comp 3's up there
Says from 1983 onwards......
But they are advertised in USA magazine BMX Action in 1982... so i woulda thought August/Sept 1982.. You can also see riders with these labels on their tyres (tires) late 82 in the mags..if you're anal enough to wanna tyre spot.. :-X

Aye :daumenhoch:
I think it works as a general guide though..... Last time I posted it up I asked everyone to input with what they thought were the right dates if any were wrong and got no changes back after 133 views - so the only confirmed change is the one from brandy truffle above :-X
