Got this off bmxmuseum.com :
890 - late 70s-'86
900 - '79-'86
1000 - '79-'86
901 - '85- ?
880 - '85-'87
883 Nippon - '86-present
990 - '87-present
Is everyone in agreement with this ???
Just want to get a handle on some era correctness issues i'm dealing with :LolLolLolLol:
Also... I assume the 1020's would slide right in with the 890 dates :-\

I am suprised that MX1000s are showing as 79 TBO
maybe but thought they were later than that ?

So come on then lads get your heads round the back of your calipers...... who's got the earliest MX1000 / MX900 date stamp ? ???

i got some mx1000 calipers with 80 on them. i thought they were later untill i had these.

Some 1980 MX900's faded red anno in my posession.

So thats MX900s and MX1000s confirmed for 1980 then...... can anyone confirm that they started knocking them out as early as '79 :-\
-

This is from an October 81 magazine, thought it might be of interest. My earliest caliper is 1981. A lot of built up bikes from that time came with 1020's though.

Not seen that article before, very nice ;)
A 901was first advertised late '84 btw. The earliest ad's I can find for 1000's was '80.

Nice post SteveG :daumenhoch:
So '84 for the 901's then mark - sweet ;)
With the posts from above then do we reckon that the '79 start date for the MX900/1000's should be 1980 :-\
Anyone else with anymore info ???

I just took a look at my black 901's and both cable and calipers are marked '84 :daumenhoch:
All my 890/1020 MX900/MX1000's fall easily within the dates at the top.
Any other borderline dates to confirm/disprove the dates in the first post ???
