I've a couple of red saddles here I'm looking to spruce up before selling them on. :)
There's a very early Elina, stamped '80, that although quite clean had the lightening bolts along the sides, now they've gone there is some adhesive residue left behind in the surface texture still.
Next there is a Viscount (mongoose) Aero saddle that was a right mess when I sourced it. Covered in oil, paint, rust etc. It cleaned up nicely but looks a faded pinky colour now.
So lads, any idea's on how to get the adhesive out of the Elina without damaging it, and what exact red Dylon colour would you suggest recolouring them both with
I may as well do both at the same time, can't hurt can it?
Thanx, G. :daumenhoch:

WD40 should break down the adhesive ;)
-
I think I did try WD40 initially. I'll go give it another try with it now. Thanx m8. :daumenhoch: G.

pm me a price on the Elina before you do owt to it,please :daumenhoch:
-
Couldn't you get Dell to do you some stickers to cover the residue?
-
Try nail varnish remover, but give it a go on the underneath first as it sometimes goes a bit mad on plastics....
-
try meths, it evaporate's and leave no residue....
normally it will shift anything that is sticking - Like the seat by the way if its still available :daumenhoch:
-
Thinners will get rid of the residue on the Elina without damaging it I have done this a few times myself.
I've got a Blue one in similar condition.
bodamus :)

Thanx lads for the tips. :daumenhoch:
The Elina has gone to a new home now... There's a sweet Redline it's earmarked for.
Any idea's on shade, number code, Dylon red I should use on the Viscount? Or shall I just pick a nice deep red to attack it with?
G. ;)

Here are a few pics of the Viscount after I gave it a quick once over.
I had to remove the Mongoose decal, which I will replace @ some point soon.
It's still a bit tatty but I'll see how well I can bring it up before dyeing it in a nice scarlet. :daumenhoch:, which should turn it into a nice little saddle. :) G.
