Title: oven pride overnight - now what?
Post by: 20to26 on March 24, 2009, 04:52 PM
ok so I soaked my black GT steel chainring overnight but it doesn't look like anythings happened.
I thought the black paint would just fall off :-\

Have I used the wrong stuff or what?

If it's paint, you'll need Nitromors...

Use Ovenpride for Anno.

no nitromors will strip the paint in less than a minute, you may need to repeat a couple of times to get it all off

id hate to think what would happen if youd left a caliper in oven pride over night as that removes anodising in a few minutes too
youd proberbly end up with a moltten lump of alloy :LolLolLolLol:

 :LolLolLolLol: yeah that'd be funny.

I got Nitromors from my village hardware before they shut - 500ml for £5.49 - saved me a trip to B&Q

The paint is off already... cracking stuff. There are some stains in the steel that the Nitromors doesn't seem to want to remove, even after a few applications.
I think I may need to sand it now.

Cheers all

glad it never worked tbh all that would have been left is a mushy substance  after a night on alloy.
