Some pics of the new build. All ready for action in the Nationals! I just wish I was smaller so I could have a go on it.... and the wheels are meant to be odd colours.

That looks well rad :daumenhoch:
Where do you get something like that? I'll be looking for something for my 4 year old this year.
-
If you wan't something for a 4yr old you'll be wanting a micro- I'm rebuilding my daughters soon, so I'll post some pics of that if I get time.
The frame is from UFO bikes in the states. It came in a stunning candy apple red, but the decals were a bit cheesy. We'd decided on black, so I stripped it and anodised it (losing nearly 2oz!), then I had the decals made up to my own design. I also lost a bit of the seat tube and drilled the drop-outs. Yes, I'm that sad. I'm still waiting for some trick bits to come- cranks, stem etc., so I used the bits off Finn's old bike and had them all re-anodised (cranks, hubs, seat clamp etc- everything that's 'titanium brown'). The front rim was powdered 'TNT truck' orange, an unusual move from me because it adds weight, but it just looks the shit I think. Some people think it looks odd. Areas where I've lost weight are pretty obvious (by the evidence of holes), but my favourite bit of 'optimising' is the LDC brakes- I had 1.5mm skimmed off the top, two 3mm slots put in, tapped the spring retainer bolt through and reversed it for strength, aluminium bolts and ti washers, and slipped on some lightweight KCNC pads. I made the crossbar for the carbon bars from some old Shimano gear-levers and some ally tube. Finn's starting to jump more now, and the carbon bars were starting to flex a bit, so this has really stiffened them up. Is that enough detail Chris? (and thanks again for the wine mate).
As for the weight, well it's pretty light.

thats well nice looks the dogs dangly's

Like the drilled out seat , will have ago at that this week.. Are those cranks Answer ? And what make is the the Chain ?
-
Heyup AL, yes, the cranks are Answer, but I've had them anodised- I think they only come in black. The chain is a KMC X9SL. I've used the X10SL before, which is a little bit lighter, but they tend to stretch a bit.

thats phat , lucky lad 8)

Finn says thanks!, and in a momemt of proud-dadness I'd like to say well done to him as well. He puts so much effort into his racing he surprises me, so to get the #1 again in such a tough class is great. We've got the Brits just around the corner now, and hopefully some Euro rounds next season, which should prove quite challenging! Can't wait.....
-
Yeah, well done Finn, good luck at the Brits 8)
-
I think your Joe could be one to watch at the Brits Andy- if he gets into a good position on that first berm God help 'em! He's had a good season this year and he just seems to be getting quicker. If he has a growth spurt this winter I think we've got trouble!
-
8)Cool ride!!! What's the brake?
-
Thanks, Joe's done me proud, Ive got him on the stretching rack at the moment, he should be 6ft for the Brits :LolLolLolLol:
