I've got a black one, but it's in America.  Hardly gets ridden.

When I'm next over there I might strip it down and sell it.

It's one of the proper ones (like the orange ones in the pics), not the later ones that Halfords sold.

I rode a Generalle, the first model they did, in the 90's for a good few years . Briliant it was.
Now - here's the thing Magna.
They did their first version which is the orange frame WITHOUT the gusset at the headtube. This is the USA made coromoly steel version that was fairly expensive. They also did this model in black too.
Then a few years later they brough out a taiwanese version which is the thicker tubed model WITH the gusset at the headtube.
Geoff Cain has a frameset for sale - its the model WITH the headtube, but in really good nick, plus it was pwnd by the legend Geoff Cain! [used to ride and work for Ron Wilkerson in America, and had a large hand in designing  the 2hip Pork.
Geoff live in Oxford, and if you pm S&Malex he can sort it our for you - Id say £90 or slightly more  is a fair price. I think he has frame/forks/bars/stem
Cheers!

Im not sure how much of these parts are still on it. I will give Geoff a call today and see. I know the stem isnt with it any more, I think the bars are Slams. The seat post and seat clamp are a DK and they are still with it.

I think that £100 for the frame, forks, seatpost and clamp is a fair starting point.

General Lee Frame set ..... SOLD!

Who'd have thought that a tatty DK frame would sell just, from posting a photo of it, faster than a Mint Gen1 haro?
I guess you would have to add a zero to the price to get the Haro  ;)

As Steve said the early ones had a different gusset arrangement and were made in the USA. I picked up this one last year but wouldn't mind moving it on - have too many midschool projects already!

I'm doing a deal for Geoff Cain's one, or i'd be all over this early US one like a rash.

In case anyone else is interested in my US-built frame, I just want my money back on it - £70. It's not mint, got a small dint in the downtube and the dropouts look like they've been milled out to 14mm, otherwise it's not a bad example of one of the rarer mid-school frames.

Cheers dudes  ;)

I took possesion of Geoff's DK General Lee this evening, it's wicked, it's not getting a resto, seems wrong to strip it down.
I had all intentions of stripping it, getting it re-powdered and stickered, the forks re-chromed, the bars re-chromed etc etc
but now I have it i just think it looks soooooooooooo cool I'm just getting it complete then leaving it.

it looks exactly like this the pic Alex put up:

also has an anodised black Profile ring, so i just need some wheels, some profiles (black chrome anyone?) and some pedals and I'm good to go.

edit: should also say a big thanks to Alex for brokering the deal and introducing me to Geoff, who's another top bloke.
(except for the bit where he said "great, money for old crap" )
