Post by: JD_76 on April 08, 2009, 10:59 AM
Hi all, fairly new to this site but have been over on Burnerworld for a while.

I have recently obtained the below F/F, can somebody tell me what era its from and if its worth restoring or not.
P.S. whats the best way to get rust off chrome,  :-[

Thanks in advance,

Id go with early 90's, but as above Im sure thats omeone will know....frame number might help  :daumenhoch:

Worth a restore....have a look in the tech section....a few different ways of removing rust from chrome...the coke/tin foil method is a good one  :daumenhoch:

Thanks for the replies, the frame has a 1" head tube and a hole in the brake bridge for a rear caliper style brake. The sticker on the downtube says "Group 1C" the c is in blue and very small. The crank is an odyssey 175mm.

I can post the frame number tonight if that helps to date the frame.

Cheers,

J.

1991/92 Group one Ci Race tech (mines a 92)

Not the most sought after frame and fork, but rides really nice....makes a good rider and is worth restoring for that alone.

Thanks Ray, I was thinking of starting to race in the old school series and seing as this has a 1" headset I think it qualifies.
Will get to work removing all that surface rust from the Chrome, going to try the old cola and tinfoil approach first.

Thanks again,  :daumenhoch:

The bike definately qualifies for OS racing, just a case of the parts you fit...its a big old frame at 21" TT, but I like it...feels more like you're riding a proper bike than perched on top of a small unwieldy thing...

It's also a cheap way to do it, you can give it some abuse without thinking or worrying you might wreck a classic.

Surprisingly its quite strong too.

I couldn't find an exact date for mine!!

But I figured it was around 1990 give or take a year or two!!  ???

Mine has 20.5" TT and is OS Legal!!

PM Daletsunami and he can take some piccys of mine!!

He raced mine at Hartlepool!!

Thanks for all the info, love the mid race shot and the bike looks cool as, the frame number is A91H23403 so with my limited knowledge im guessing its a 1991 frame.

Didnt have time last night to do any more work on her but will get started soon.

P.S. how do I measure the top tube, from what point to what point.

Thanks,  :)

James.
