Title: Cleaing Gyro Bearings
Post by: wildon on April 09, 2009, 08:54 AM
Ok, i got a couple of first gen Odyssey Gyros i was going to clean up, re-finish and use on my builds instead of a couple of Gyro 2's i got.  Problem i got is the bearings in the movable parts in the middle have dirt inside and they do not run too smooth anymore.  Can't take them apart so is there something i could do ... maybe put them in something to eat away at all the grease and dirt etc?
Cheers  :daumenhoch:

Soak them inWD40 or De-Greaser but the problem with those 2 processes is that they will remove the grease from the bearings and i'm not sure if you can regrease them as i haven't seen them ::)

:) Heat a wad of grease in a pan until it turns to liquid (be careful-you`re not frying chips!) drop in the gyros, remove carefully with tongs or similar. Allow the parts to cool and then give `em a good clean-jobs a good`un.
